Hello everyone!
I am currently getting quite interested in The Grateful Dead (above all in American Beauty), and just wanted to know if anybody on this site wants to talk about them, and if anyone knows if Arlo has ever played with them.

(i like "american beauty" too!) (i have a few of their albums, but i do believe american beauty is my favorite)
arlo was part of the furthur fest tour one year, or so...i don't remember the year...i managed to miss that for some reason...maybe all the shows were too far away or whatever, i don't know...so anyway, i didn't get to see him during that.
i did manage to see the grateful once. and a time before that i almost saw them as part of the dylan-tom petty-grateful dead tour (we had a blast!) but before the grateful dead were to perform, someone we were with began to succumb to the heat so we left.
then some years later, a friend called us up and asked if we wanted to sign up for crowd control at a grateful dead show (i would suppose he knew what he was talking about), and we're like, "wow, so random...sure!" and so that's how we see them.
i would see other folks there looking at me, so i'd smile and wave at them, but there was a distinct air of secrecy about them which puzzled me, and then i remembered that i was wearing a uniform, "oh yeah..."
anyways, at some point i was so burried under a fortress of people, that i'd resigned myself to the idea that i was not going to see another thing during this concert, when suddenly a hand reaches down (which i decided must be for me) and so i grab it and lo, it's my good friend who lifts me up and through the crowd and onto the stage and there we all were....on the stage with the grateful dead. they were great! there was a lot of excitememnt during that show and a lot of that night is a bit of a blur.
so anyway, later i think about that, and i think about arlo and the rolling blunder review i love so much, and with pangs of guilt i write a letter to the farm (back then i think they called it the farm) and with much apprehension, and guilt written all over my face i write:
"dear arlo and friends,

**gulp**

(bottom line) i got paid for seeing the grateful dead!"

there was an outpouring of support.

so that's my story about arlo with the grateful dead, and i'm sticking to it.

I went to the Furthur Fest in VA Beach. That was my only Dead related show but it was fun. I remember trying to find Arlo after the show & not being able to find him. Turns out the fuzz saw him waiting around & thought he was some old hippie hangin around when they were trying to close up the venue & they kicked him out LOL! I felt so bad for him... The day before or after he had come with the Furthur Fest to Nissan Pavilion in in Northern VA (Manassas). We didn't get to go as it'd be too hard going abck & forth from VA Beach to Manassas from the top of the state to the bottom of the state like that 2 days in a row., I was so bummed out on missing the show.. I think we had Mikes school reunion that nite & ended up going to that & having the dj play CONO.

We finally go to go to Nissan Pavilion in in Northern VA (Manassas) when Arlo came there with Farm Aid...

The Dead are pretty cool. Neat stories ya'll posted...

hi dave the grateful dead are one of the funnest sounded bands and it's rue but who's listing

it's real y'all all the stuff they open

maybe it's me but i've never seen a show, was invited to one and faded on it cuz my mom WOULD NOT have been in favor, then before you knew it

too late

but the guy who invited me is in a cool band now called Back Beat Syndicate and they are really workin to make some beautiful sands

but yeah Jerry, my friend, who invite me, and I used to talk about how inspirational he is musically.
