welcome to arlonet, sun-dot. Interesting questions. Not sure about the Grass Roots ?. As for the Dillards/Dooley question, you might try their Tribute to the American Duck as well as Back Porch Bluegrass albums. Also, check out the forum "Folksinger Spottings: Related Artists Info". It's perfect for asking Arlo-unrelated questions about other artists. Thanks

Is this the same Grass Roots group that was out in the 60's? If so I have an album of them && a few 45 singles of them & we saw them in concert with the Monkees once or twice...

I met a guy in my hometown of Appleton, WI
He played with the Grass Roots from 73' to 77'
just here and there but toured with them a few times
His name was Mike and he played a mean guitar
He also teaches theory and gives lessons
Anyway..he gave me some background on the band
They are from LA and were formed originally in the 60s
They were grouped together with a classified ad in the paper after a few singles were played on the radio

The original artists are still anonymous i believe
perhaps a few played with the band after they formed via advertisement
They were in high demand back then and were extremely popular
even before they were actually a band
When Mike played with them they were not very popular anymore and could not even fill an auditorium

He is a cool guy
