rbrown, Mr Bojangles is on the album "DYLAN" (1973). We saw him last night in Atlanta. What a great show, but Ceashel, no sign of Arlo. This was the first Dylan concert I'd been to where you could understand almost every word he sang. One of the highlites of the show was a version of "Lay Lady Lay" that was pretty close to the origional but with a 2 minute instrumental at the end. I'm going to see him again in Augusta, GA Friday.

That Dylan "cover" of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles" appeared on an album titled simply "Dylan" (1973). That (very bizarre) album was never sanctioned by Dylan, but was released by Columbia Records in a fit of pique when Dylan signed with David Geffen's new label Elektra/Asylum in 1973. In a vengeful mood Columbia collected all these odd Dylan rehearsal performances, studio warm-ups and sketchy outtakes together and released them in a patchwork that became the "Dylan" album. I think that to this day, it's the only Dylan album not re-released by Columbia in the CD format... (although I think you might be able to get it on a European Columbia imprint if so inclined...!) My favorite cover on the album is Dylan warbling the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love" (which, come to think of it, is a Presley favorite of another folksinger that we know and love)... Come to think of it, my wife and I had our first dance together as husband and wife to Dylan's "Can't Help..." track from that weird album!

Balwinville, Hank, Thanks for refreshing my memorie!! I was Quite sure it was titled simply Dylan. But wasn't sure. I remember the cover had a profile face, that was multi-colored. And the many, many covers he did...Which seemed a switch at the time. It's surely another one on my list, to look for... I've been shopping in malls looking for Leon Russel's Carney...(with a best buy sticker)<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/wink.gif" width=15 height=15>

What, you can understand Dylans singing at gigs now? <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/laugh.gif" width=15 height=15> I think Mike has that album. He has all of Dylans albums. I do have a 45 single of GOTTA SERVE SOMEBODY... Been to 3 Dylan gigs. One time I went to an Arlo gig one week & a week later it was Dylan. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> Another Dylan show I went to Uncle Arlo went to see him on the same tour but another town (one closer to him LOL!) We ahd fun comparing Dylan shows with each other. I think at the one Uncle Arlo went to he did some tunes that weren't done at my show & at my show Dylan did some gis he din't do tat the one Arlo went to. I told Ar, see if you'd gone to the one in VA ya could've heard a Woody song...

not lever. 'Arm'. It took me 16 - 20 hrs. to remember. Last night lever sounded good. But lever maybe it's not. Arm. It's only been 25 or so yrs. I stopped counting, some time ago.

ya it makes a big differance when you can understand the words...(unless your seeing Joe Cocker than forget it). I think Dylan got off the muscle relaxents that can slurr your voice. It's only a theory!?
