I'm kind of surprised that there's 4 pages of topics dealing with Legends of Folk Music, but no topic covering Utah. I saw him two years ago & he was great! Any Utah Phillips fans out there?

Buy a transmitter and do it myself.

Some of my favorite Utah Phillips quotes:

"Those of you who may have heard me before should turn to those who may have not & calmly reassure them that this is what happens when I sit on a stage."

"The Republicans' solution to every social problem is more punishment. Build more jails, bigger jails. Now, I can understand the conservative mind being attracted to penal enlargement."

"When your memory goes, forget it."

"I come from Nevada City, California. We have so many damn healers it makes me sick!"

"I get the impression that Nancy Reagan's idea of the Third World is J.C. Penney's."

On why he's never written a book: "Punctuation is no substitute for timing."

"You don't win freedom, you're born with that, and sooner or later someone's going to try and take it away, then the degree to which you resist is how free you are."

"One of the worst jobs I ever had was out in the Navajo land with the WPA, putting electric lighting into outhouses. In fact, I was the first person ever to wire a head for a reservation." (Groan)
