"Brainwashed" is now available in stores, right on schedule as promised.
There's also a special edition CD which includes a bonus DVD.
I listened to sound samples from this album and it is like so totally cool!
A definite must have for George Harrison fans!

The George Harrison tribute album entitled "Songs From The Material World" which rb was actually referring to is due to be released on February 25, 2003. A date which will commemorate George's would-have-been 60th birthday.

Sorry to drag up old topics, but this was a nice album. I liked much of the album, but the Todd Rundgren cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" blew me away. I've been a Todd R. fan for many years, but this performance exceeded my expectations.

I also liked Roger McGuinn's version of "If I Needed Someone" but I was slightly disappointed by some of the other songs, like Edward Burch's version of "Isn't It A Pity," a song with so much potential.

I notice that this was released by Koch records, too!

Don't be sorry Z-man. I had forgotten all about this pro-ject, untill reading your post! & it just goes to show you, you can't always (understatement) believe what you read in Rolling Stone Mag.... As they suggested Rundgren, was supposed to do a cover of 'Cloud Nine'...

It seems like 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' would better suit Todd, anyhow... You gotta love Todd's 'White Album' when he did the B. side of all cover songs.... I loved the way, he made them his own, yet, immitated the original artist, as much as possible....( maybe HE invented charioche) lol

* Strawberry Fields Forever, was a favorite, from Todd's White Album. Maybe that's why he was chosen, for Harrison's B-Day tribute?

** Loved him doing Brian Wilson too. But Rundgren wouldn't ever surprize me... Amaze me, yes

Hi Folks .... Im a George Fan too , he's always present when I listen music

Never heard his tribute album , maybe its because I could feel myself

dissapointed with any version .. I guess Roger McGuinn has similarity with

George's voice and can do a great work .. I have " Brainwashed " and I

like it ... I like him with Travelin' Wilburys too and everyone of the

members Roy Orbison ,Tom Petty ,Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne ...

...but I guess Gerorge's greatest work was Live in Japan with Eric

Clapton .....All his classics with this magic guitar .. In this concert , the

version of " While my guitar gently weeps " is awesome ......

He made the first beneffit concert .." Bangladesh " ...We never forget you

Ozzy your right. "Bangaldesh" was the VERY first benefit concert in history. ( for Rock & Roll ) I'm not well versed on Polka. Who knows maybe there was a Polka benefit show, I would never hear of...


But lets not forget the likes of 'Leon Russell' ( who btw: took credit for this being the first benefit concert) Who knows??? But if your talking free $$$ for starving children, yes George was there... But you can't leave out the likes of "Leon Russell" ( who historians say stole the show ) and Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, ect, ect... To many people to mention....

I love Georger Harrison. Xmas was a special time of yr for me, at one point in my life... I had 6 sisters and 3 brothers, and grew up in the sticks. ( If I was accross the St. Law. River lets say I grew up in the Bush)

Anyhow, on my 16th -B-Day one of my sisters was home from college. She arrived late on Xmas eve. ( who doesn't have a sneak peak at the Xmas presents, Santa brings) . So to my ultimate surprize, under the tree, in a neatly wrapped package, was Harrison's 'All things must Pass'... My younger sister and I, and our friends, litterally burned that L.P. all winter, and on thru the summer... I especially liked the songs that Bob Dylan had collaborated on.....I had that poster ( black and white ) of George in his mud racking boots, for almost a decade.... A house fire in 1983, destroyed all my vynal..... ( over 300 L.P. and hundreds and hundreds of 45's ) For a very long time, I was in greif about this loss...

But thinking of Harrison, and that paticular Album, makes me think, of the meaning of the thing. The words, the poetry.... It's all about letting go ya know??? Like songs will never leave you. And posters can be replaced.... I think of the yrs. I beat myself up, over losing my prize possessions.... YET, I was fortunate to get outta that fire alive..... Drs. told me that, after being treated for smoke inhalation.... I left the hospital, AMA.... and spit out black crap for about a week.... ( No permanant damage ) but in my mind, the damage was done.... screw my house, and my TV and my stereo.... My guitarss, and my amps.... My burnt up records were a recurring nightmare..... Before George passed, he gave a few interviews, and I have on video of him playing "All Things Must Pass" ( him and guitar with friend Ravi-Shankar in backdrop) so it's totally unplugged....

The words to that song says it all. One cannot hang on to material things...

My favorite album of Harrisons is 'Dark Horse'

The song 'Living In The Material World' is even a better example of Georges philosophy on life.....

" Used My body like a car, took me here there, near and far, I'm living in the Material world"!!!!

Thank-You Ozzy, for sparking these memorys of long ago.....When I was a kid, I always dreamed that I met the beatles.... Not at a show, in my everyday, real life... I'll be very lucky to have 20 more yrs, on this ball that circles the sun.... Who KNOWS? Maybe someday I will meet George, and everything will be copesetic....

cassette recorded from a vinyl's friend and used listened it time after

time , till I bought the new deluxe box released in 2001 I guess to

commemorate the 30 years from first ...
