Hey Everybody
yes, I know it was tried once before, but this is a proposal for a people's draft complete with great salary, top of the line health insurance and an even more meaningful place in our national story. If son of a bitch George's son can sit in the oval office why not Woody's favorite son of our's. Rising Son.
So I propose we draft Arlo for the Senate from Massachusetts. If we get it rolling then we can ask Teddy Kennedy not only to retire, but to sign on in support of Arlo as an Independent and maybe even stick around as a staff member. What we do in the elections a year from now will determine what we can achieve in 2008.
Who likes the sound of this whistle ? Don't tell Arlo yet, or he might just head to Canada.

Well, heck! Don't leave Connecticut out of this! How about Emperor Arlo of New England? We can secede from the USA and change the name to the "Untidy States of Blunderland"! Major cities on our coastline will be "USB ports"! Alice can open a new restaurant and call it "Alice in Blunderland"! Mass transit will be supplied by the "Blunder bus"! The revolution starts now! Sign me up!

You all know how nasty the campaigns can be, how they go back and dig up all the trash they can from ones past.

Not on the topic of drafting Arlo, but a bit about folk-processing (I didn't know where else to put this):

I wonder who would vote against Arlo...anybody? It is sort of like imagining anyone voting against Willie Nelson in Texas. A year from now there are 33 Senate races. I suppose one could call this the Schwartzenegger Reverse Strategy. What happens in 2006 sets the stage for what could happen in 2008.
Since Captain Zap brought up Connecticuit, well who could unseat Lieberman ? I have voted for Ralph for president two of three possible times and would like to imagine him winning a seat as Senator. He is from Conn.
I would only wish Arlo six years in DC if every state with a Senate race would elect someone of a better ilk to create a whole new ball game in DC.

Hey Zap, here's some history (or in my case herstory) trivia for you. My great, great, great grandmother, Rebecca,was considered to be one of the most beautiful ladies of her native state of Connecticut, OH! and William, her husband, fought with Washington, at the St. Lawrence River, in the Revoloution. My Dad's named after him. Heck you never know you and I could be related way back!!!

That reminds me. I wonder how Kinky is doing in his campaign. I read somewhere that Willie Nelson was all for him...

I remember seeing him do the El Paso song in harmony with the Song and Dance Man during s rolling thunder review in the Fairgrounds Arena in OKC along time ago, it was so funny I cried and then Joan Baez came out and did a whole set in her Bobby imitation voice, that was funny too. Roger mcQuinn did the straight byrds version of Tamborine Man (he is no William Shatner)
