why are we not in the streets protesting...possibly arrested and head bashed in...is THAT why?

As somebody who occasionally (a couple of times a month) stands on a corner vigil-ing (is that the same as protesting?), I've been saying the same thing for almost a year now. We get a lot of positive response from people driving by, but why don't they stop and join us? A lot of people at the Cindy Sheehan support vigil said they'd show up at the Winsted vigils, but nary a one have we seen!

Anti-War Demonstrators March on Washington

WASHINGTON - Crowds opposed to the war in Iraq surged past the White House on Saturday, shouting "Peace now" in the largest anti-war protest in the nation's capital since the U.S. invasion.

The rally stretched through the day and into the night, a marathon of music, speechmaking and dissent on the National Mall. Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, "I think they probably hit that."
