Seven bombs exploded in London, devastating the transportation system, mostly in the financial district. The number and condition of victims is not yet known.

I am praying for the victims and their families.

I am also praying for the world leaders at the G8 summit to find wisdom and to act on it.

Earlier reports were vague. There were apparently four explosions, at least forty dead and at least 700 injured.

It's a sad day. Those affected and their families are in our hearts. It's so senseless. And I wonder if it's not even backfiring on them, or at least maybe it will. What they want to do is cause terror, but for me, every time they do something like this it causes in me less fear and more anger and sadness. Not the same thing at all, and not, I think, what they want us to feel.

Can't you just see Bush stamping his feet and saying, "I don't care if there's no intelligence to support it; we have an excuse to frighten people with the colors again. Let's at least go to orange!"

There was also supposedly no "intelligence" warning of the 9/11 attacks. I'm with Bush on this one... better safe than sorry. And I never thought of the colors as "frightening" but rather that those "in charge" were paying attention and doing what they need to be doing. Seeing the level at orange is actually comforting under today's circumstances.

I do agree that rather than terrorize people, these attacks just cause sadness and raise the anger level a notch or two (seeing red?).

Personally, I feel that this "color alert" system is just a way for the administration to garner support for their agenda, while at the same time instilling fear in the average citizen. If the proper funding and support were given to transportation facilities, focusing on the most vulnerable, rather than on 'pork barrel' allocations, we would ALWAYS have a vigilant security level.

True story: A few months after the 9/11 attacks, I was riding the bus to work, standing, when a guy got on with a bag lunch & stood a few feet away from me. The bus made some sharp turns & the guy is trying to keep his balance & juggle his bag lunch, when suddenly all the contents of the bag came spilling out.

An orange rolled toward me rapidly, & with cat-like reflexes, I bent over & scooped it up with one hand.

He thanked me when I returned it to him, & I said, "No problem. I was on Orange Alert."

The victims in London, like the victims of Madrid and the Trade Towers, were just like you and me....just normal every day "Joans" and "Joes" going to work, trying to make the rent or mortgage, pay the bills, support their families. It makes no sense to target anyone, but even less to target those who the terrorists did. These aren't the people who make the foreign policies or run the corporations or who wield power over countless other lives.

Thank you Cheryl, I an fine and well, I live in Manchester 180 miles from London; though in light of all this Manchester has been put on an at risk list?!?

I didn't know about the Blast till about 1:00pm, we don't really have the tv on at all and I had gone shopping for new shoes for Arlo so I wasn't listening to a radio. But when I saw my mum she was very worried about my Aunt, she was in London. but we did find out at about 2:30pm after hours of trying to get through on her mobile that they were staying just outside London and had only gone to the center for the shopping on the wednessday, they had set off home just after the explostion and missed all the road caos.

It is all very sad, and it makes you feel ashamed to be human knowing that this is what humans can be like. Also the voice in the back of my head is saying that Bliar and Shrub will be rubbing thier hands together thinking that this is the perfect excuse to go after Siria's oil on the grounds that osama bin Larden "will be hiding out there" and so it will all start again!

Beverly, SO Glad to hear that your family is O.K. When I 1st heard of this horrible tradegy, I thought of ya'll. Thankfully you are safe. I'm so sorry for all whose families havent been so lucky.

On 9/11, Karen, a co-worker of mine, didn't hear from her son unil 4:30 p.m. He worked in one of the towers, but walked out even though his boss said to stay, and he got to safety, just couldn't get a call out. Partly because of 9/11, he and his wife decided to leave NYC. Guess where they moved? Yup; London. They're okay, but Karen was pretty much a basket case on Wednesday. We all told her that if they decide to move back, it should be to some city other than Dallas; on the other hand, if you're in the same city, stick close to Wes; he's a pretty lucky guy.
