the city of Philadelphia actually felt the need to come out defending itself for NOT planning to scan a million people with metal detectors when they come to the Live 8 concert. Can you imagine, they plan to treat concert goers as American citizens and not violate them at every corner. Almost gives you a twinge of pride...

I hate how some of these concert places want to search ya at shows. Pure communism lol. The Birchmere is a good example. They search ya for cameras which is a violation of my God given freedom. I go to enjoy the Arlo shows & have fun-- not be searched. I enjoy taking pics & esp of Arlo. It is my God given right to be able to enjoy that hobby. But sadly some concert places do the communist nazi thing. The concert nazis cause me to have to sneak to take pics. I shouldn't have to sneak in order to do a hobby I enjoy. Heck in the 60's & 70's they weren't like that. You could freely dance in the islaes (I remember dancing at a Mandrillas concert in 66). At concerts back then folks could show up already stoned & nobody cared (remembers a dude being stoned at a Seals & Crofts concert in the 70's)...

Pure communism? I think probably the correct terminology would be totalitarianism mixed with oligarchy. The idea driving Communism is that the individual works and contributes to support the whole group. Everyone contributes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

the communist nazi thing? Communists and Nazis didn't dig each other. Nazis were extreme fascists who would exclude(kill) or exploit you if you didn't jive with their culture.




Many people opened up and left their hang-ups and silly unfounded insecurities behind. Some folks were deeply troubled by the change. Perhaps they had something to lose like,...their smoke and mirror fake identity, because they were trying to live up to the conformist stardards withwhich they were socialized like,...for example, don't think, just follow or males should not have long hair. They had much more to gain like,...down-to-earthness and integrity. Hopefully they got over it. I was just a little boy in the mid to late sixties, but very observant of people and things and changes going on around me at the time. It was GREAT because those silly unfounded insecurities and prejudices were shaken and torn at the foundation. Sometimes torn down. Still, though, obviously, the ball needs to keep rolling in that direction.

Yeah totalitarianism is what I meant altho with the communism that was taking away folks freedoms & how some of the concert places do ya is taking away some of your freedoms like that. I would vote for Cherylism in a heartbeat; anything's better than the lying, heads up their asses weasels running the country now.

The first thing we would need is a Cherylism Manifesto, something along the lines of Das Kapital or Mein Kampf. I think it could be called Eine Kleine Arlomusik.

There are times when I'd like to change my stance on capital punishment, & say that I believe in it in cases of stupidity...

In the winter of '02, I atttended the Paul Spadafora-Angel Manfredy title fight here at the Palumbo Center, a basketball arena with only one entrance. They decided that everybody entering was gonna hafta go thru a metal detector. Wouldn't have been so bad had they announced this in advance, as we coulda arrived an hour earlier, but they didn't & we didn't, & it took so long to get in that we missed the first fight. (Being with local mini-celebrity Sam the Fight Doctor didn't advance me to the front of the line, unfortuneately.) If you think the cost of concerts & sporting events is high, the most expensive tickets are to title fights, so we were pissed!

That fall at the same venue, they confiscated my umbrella as I entered the Elvis Costello concert, coz it could be "used as a weapon." I put up a mild bitch, reading the guy the back of my ticket, which said that I assumed the risk of getting hit with flying objects, including ball, bats, pucks, & hockey sticks, & why this would happen at a concert I don't know, but I concluded by saying, "And here I am without an umbrella to protect myself!!" He sighed & said, "You're holding up the line, sir," & thinking about the fight earlier in the year, I gave up.

The umbrella was still there after the show, which surprised me. Good ol' honest Pittsburgh people.

Even though we turned over power a year ago, we are still running Iraq. maybe we should try Cherylism there to see if it would work? Couldn't hurt!
