If you construct a map based on today's announcement of proposed base closings, it appears that military preparedness has now taken a back seat to "politics as usual". All the net job losses occur in the blue states, while all the net gains occur in the red ones. Apparently, the Bush Administration believes "payback is a bitch" with a vengeance.
