It was funny this moring after reading my favorite Sunday morning comic 'Andy Capp' that I started thinking bout names. It made me realize that Andy it'self is a remotely rare name. Doing the book club we just did an Auto-bio written by Andy Rooney. He had reservations about his parents nameing him Andy. (anything but Sue)

*Anyhow in Andy's book he refers to many friends. Allot of Generals & Sargeants & people of high position. A Snuffy came into the picture. (I forget the take on Snuffy---READ the book)

it was then I realized that Snuffy was probably a rarer name than even Arlo! Wierd thinkin sometimes. But my late father-in-law went by Snuffy. All his friends called him Snuffy. His name was Alexander Paul Terrance. (sorta a slick name when ya think) So ya think he'd of been pegged with Alex or maybe his middle name Paul. But after he returned from the War, he was Snuffy.

*Funny, when Cops talked to him, or maybe a man from clergy it was always Paul. So I think that says somethin...

Today's Andy Capp reminded me of Snuff. He would have made a great Andy...<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

If I recall rightly from the book, Andy didn't want to be "Andy" but he got stuck with it during the War, and Andy he was ever since. Would anyone want to listen to commentaries by "Andrew" Rooney? Or "Drew" Rooney?

Would "Andy" Carey be as funny as Drew Carey?

Native Americans named children one thing and then as they became adults they got their new names. I think that is a much better plan then to tag someone one thing for life. I myself started as a Joseph, and as you can see I am not your average Joe. The spelling of my current name is odd also, NathEn instead of the normal NathAn, but I think mybe it's time for another change, maybe something like Cool Dude, what do you think?
