Regardless of whether or not Dave decides to keep the community forums open,
this is my last post to this site.

I made this decision before I saw Dave's offensive "joke" & posted an
objection in response to it, & thus it has nothing to do with the fact that I
received some flack over my objection. I knew I would receive some flack &
decided that I didn't care.

Despite one disagreement over what is funny & what isn't, I would like to
thank Dave for providing these forums. I had a great time here, short as it
was. You have every right to be proud of this site, Dave, & I will check it
from time to time for Arlo's tour schedule, etc.

I would also like to thank the forum moderators for their fine service.

Finally, thank you all for so readily accepting me, an unexciting, plain
family man who posts of first cars, defunct nightclubs, outfield walls, & hot
dog vendors, & who years ago traded in his tie-dye t-shirts for t-shirts that
say "#1 Dad." You're all great people. I consider you friends.

My best wishes to you all.

Well, Arnie, I can explain a little.

This would be what is known as the "hit-and-run."

See, Mr. Bloggs saw fit, on a different forum, to quote me, and change that quote to reflect something I did not say, I guess because he thought it was somehow slightly amusing. By sticking around, he might have to deal with the consequences of what we have seen that people around here do not tolerate....deception. Now granted, it's pretty obvious that I didn't say what he showed me as saying...you cn flip down only a few posts to see that. But changing the words that someone else has said in what looks like an automated exact quote is, at best, dishonest, and at worst, quite sleazy.

All in all, I would guess that he felt it best to cut and run quick before people had too much of a chance to think about what he did.

Getting ones ass kicked is a matter of perception.Sometimes, someone thinks they kicked your ass, but if you don't think so, it doesn't matter, and vice-versa.
