it was too much fun to kill!

Besides, after I explained my practicing of Smartassism, I figured we at least needed to hear from those that practice Dumbassism.....or have we already? :)
I like a place where you explain that you practice Smartassism and then have Quakers and Atheists asking you to be thier guru. You can't find that everywhere.

I'm with you, Larry. It was, for a time and for better or worse, getting folks to put their thoughts into words. Maybe a few even took a closer look at themselves or others.

I do have to say something to Primula Brandybuck about Atheists (why shouldn't they get a capital at the beginning of their collective name? Every body else does!). You said:

"For one thing, if this is all there is, I'd better start having a hell of a lot more fun before it's too late. And I admit to my everlasting shame that if I allow myself to believe there is no accounting for one's behavior at the end of things, I might be tempted to be not nice and less honest more often than I already fall prey to."

I've said it before. Some Atheists I've met are some of the most moral people that I know. There's a whole bunch who have shown up at peace vigils that I've gone to. Doesn't sound like some body who figures there's no accounting for what we do while we're here, does it? Maybe it's the thought that this just might be all we really do have so, we should try to make it as good as can be. Or maybe that we're all responsible for what we do so, we'd better give a good go at it. I don't know. We all have our individual thoughts and beliefs as to what is or is not or will be.

If all we worried about was whether or not some cosmic honcho was going to reward or punish us after we die then I think that the world would be in a lot worse shape than it is now. I mean, according to polls, you've got a majority of people believing in some kind of Grand Whazoo and look at the mess we're in now. But there are folks on both sides of the spirituality fence who want to make the here and now a better place than it is and, in my book, that's a good thing for everybody.

And Gene Roddenberry said pretty well, too: "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations"

Hello! I am sitting right here! Did you think I was a mother raper or a father raper or something?

Not me, PS! I was defending Atheists (in general). You're not a whole danged sect unto yourself, ya know! Well, on second thought, maybe you are! Sheesh! No good deed goes unpunished!

Some people would say that God made Atheists too, but Atheists might say they didn't make(a) God.

ya' see, anyone can discuss Smartassism... especially over here in arlo.net.
But what drew me to this piece of the internet was the chance to study with Judy (the third half), since having grown up in a jewish setting, i was eager to finally learn first hand about Judyism from the master.

i mean... you folks can go on for hours (days, weeks, months,...) about this guy jesus. All I know about jesus is that he was a nice jewish boy who had some grand ideas about how to run a Seder.

i personally think everyone should become jewish, just for a little while, so you can all enjoy the heritage, history, culture, and especially the food!
But feel free to bring your own god (or athiest enthusiasm) with you. There's always room at my table...

I do appreciate your attempt at trying to change the perception of Atheists by Theists. A lot of people don’t realize that Atheist does not equate to Devil Worshiper or something. I mean, I am an Atheists and I think Jesus was pretty cool up until he became resurrected. Then it turned into some horrible Science Fiction Horror Flick.
