I am on page 428. It ends on page 430. Did anyone else read this book?

I read it a few weeks ago. I thought there were some amazing insights into what made the man Barack Obama became.

I read the book because I wanted to understand how he came to be who he is today, and I wanted to do this without the influence of the media. I wondered what were the circumstances around the issue with his racial identity, and how did this man, raised by his white mother and material grandparents, grow to be the man he is today. What I got was an amazing story , really a love story.

You never know how a book is going to impact you, and it was fresh on my mind when I saw him last night in Grand Rapids, his white mid-western accent so familiar to me, the excitement of a political rally in full swing. Yet what impressed me most was how he reacted when a woman became ill in the crowd. I saw a man who stopped dead in his speech, compassionate and unfettered, reach into the podium and take a bottle of water and tossed it out into the crowd to pass it to her, directing paramedics to make their way through, and others to clear the way. You cannot script that.

I don't think I would have known to look for that part of him had I not read all about his life.
