Just got this in an email today, and for some reason thought it'd be worth sharing... I figure them liberal fanatics need riling up every now and then...

“I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbeque. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table …… simply everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And other birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn’t even sit on my own back porch anymore.

I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the backyard was like it used to be…. quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now lets see….our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: your child’s 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn’t speak English: Corn flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press “one” to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than “Old Glory” are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it’s time for the government to take down the bird feeder?”

okay, Dave... Aum....;)...

here's a thought.... if you really want to know who's oppressin you... taking your money and sh****ing on your property....take a look at the richest folks (not middle class, really rich)... read how they make their money and keep their money.....

after all, a bird's nest may thrive for a season but falls apart when the cold winds blow....those 100,000 square foot houses....they are built to last.....until they build an addition...

Aum....

Actually, I was a little disappointed to see that no one really wants to touch this topic so far. And nothing personal kj (or anyone else who might like to respond) - but I was hoping to see specific issues mentioned touched upon rather than sidestepped, but sidestepping an issue or avoiding it altogether seems to me like what a lot of liberals do (notice I didn't say all). I know I ain't politically correct, and frankly, wouldn't ever want to be.

Now, to address wanting to know about who's opressing me and shitting on my probertly (proprtedly the really rich)... Well, I have read how they make their money and keep it. In fact, there is an EXCELLENT boox I'd highly recommend called The Millionaire Next Door. It shows how the MAJORITY of the weathly got there... and you know what, I don't fault them one damn bit. I also regularly listen to a radio program called The Dave Ramsey Show - who is a financial advisor who had millions, lost it all, and got it back. I hear him helping peope become weathy all the time... there are lots of folks calling into his show screaming that they are debt free... next step wealth. He's very rich, showing others how to do it and avoid all the bullshit traps out there. And not that it matters, but he's a Christian as well. This is the rich. More power to them, and congratulations as well! This is the majority of the rich.

And I have yet to see the bird's nests even begin to fall apart... and frankly, I don't think they will until people start doing something about it. WE are the cold winds... But right now, all I feel is a warm summer breeze...

I agree with ya on the illegals. Yet, at the same time I can understand why they want to come over here. So I'm really torn on this. I do agree you shouldn't have to press 1 to get Englsih on the phone. Maybe they could have English as the default & if someone needs another language press 2...

And while the following quoted material is not my own... this guy put it quite elloquently:

Quote:
I want to talk about differences, in an effort to make clearer where I stand and why, as well as to explain my contempt for the Liberals in these-here fine United States. First lets talk about the difference between Government and Charity. Government exists to govern. Charity exists to help people. How on earth did anyone ever confuse the two? And now, I keep hearing talk of this INSANE idea of “FREE” National Healthcare. Are these people out of their minds? This country is being pushed toward a socialist mentality that, if not stopped, is destined to be the ruin of our economy- not to mention diminishing our freedom and overall quality of life. This is America, and although all citizens should be encouraged to be charitable towards their fellow Americans, the government has no right to force them to. I could go on and on about this one, and someday I will, but for now let me wrap it up so I can move on- Government should not be in the business of charity. Not only the big two (Wellfare and Unemployment) but all social programs should be CUT, CUT, CUT if not elliminated entirely. This is where the Bird Feeder Theory applies. If you put out a bird feeder, birds will show up. If you take the bird feeder away, the birds will not starve, they will make their own way. I often think that if all these bleeding heart liberals (who can’t wait to get their hands on my tax dollars to give to someone else who they’ve decided needs it more than me) were to focus their time, energy and money into a charity such as a soup kitchen or the Red Cross or the Salvation Army, the world would be a much better place. But what do I know? I’m just a dumb, hard working, insured taxpayer.

Another difference I would like to talk about is the difference between people who obey the law, and people who don’t. People who don’t obey the law are breaking the law. People who break the law are called criminals. I was always taught growing up to respect and obey the law, for it is what keeps us safe and maintains order. I also learned, if you break the law, you must suffer the consequences. This applies not only to you and me and Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, but also to all the illegal aliens that are invading our country. They came here illegally, they obtained fake documents illegally, thay are employed illegally. They are criminals. If I break the law, I must pay a fine, or go to court or go to jail, or whatever the law says I have to do depending on which law I’ve broken. Why the hell would anyone even consider giving illegal aliens (CRIMINALS) special consideration that I wouldn’t get even if I were to get caught sending a text message while driving? And why on earth should any of our(American Citizens) tax dollars be spent to help feed or clothe or educate or give medical treatment to any of these criminals? This to me is a no-brainer folks. Here again we may apply the Bird Feeder Theory. I say take the bird feeder away- fast and hard. Give them NOTHING. Make it IMPOSSIBLE for them to get a job. Give them NO INCENTIVE to come here or stay here. They are criminals. If they didn’t respect our laws to come here and drive here and work here, what the hell makes anyone think they will start respecting them anytime soon?

Cheryl - yes, I can also see why they'd want to come here. We have a pretty great country - one that people have fought and died for to keep it that way. But we have laws. Nothing says people CAN'T come to this country, nor am I saying that it should be like that... but there are laws and rules that exist (for a reason) on how a person can enter the country. We as citizens are expected to follow other laws or face the consequences - they should be no different. If we don't like the laws in place, well, laws can be changed and/or ammended.

Dave, I will happily pay the cost for tickets for you and a friend to see Sicko. I dare you to have the courage to watch the whole thing with an open mind. E-mail me with your current addy and I will send the money AND a Dallas Cowboys season schedule magnet for your refrigerator. How could a true conservative turn down that offer?

hehehe. One of the reasons I love Arlo is because I legally never had to register for the draft. There was no draft when I turned eighteen. I blame Arlo and John Lennon for that. Face it Wiz, you're hangin' with a bunch of lefties...

Damn, I'd do it just for the refrigerator magnet... But I never professed to have an open mind. Sure, there are many things that I am able to see both sides of. However, my parents (or someone) instilled certain values, morals, and beliefs in me that I refuse to waver on. Same reason I never was able to bring myself to be able to watch or read The Davinci Code... there's no way I could look at that movie without distain - even though it is a work of fiction... It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

So, as for me being able to watch Sicko with an open mind - maybe or maybe not. I already have a certain "unfavorable" opinion of Michael Moore - but from what I've read, there very well may be parts of the movie I agree with. I firmly do believe that the health care system needs some serious work, and I know the drug companies are fleecing people left and right... but how to go about fixing it or changing it, I may just disagree with some about.

For the record, I take no offense to being called a "conservative"... however, if I am to be pigeonholed into a category, well, I've taken several tests and quizes and I actually consider myself (and the test results agree) to be a "centrist". There are definantly things about our current administration I do not agree with... for instance the FCC trying to insert itself into our lives and tell us what we can or can't say (as Howard Stern says.... FUCK THE FCC). Frankly, I think that there needs to be less government all around and they need to stay out of John Q Public's life for the most part. Where I do believe we need a strong and unwavering government is in the area of defense.

"Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. They counted wrong. " - Ronald Reagan

Gee as MM points out on Sicko, the Police, Fire Brigade, Schools and Post Office are SOCIALIZED ooooohhhh how scarey is that! (DAMN that socialism!!) What's wrong with health care being the same?
Or maybe it would be better if everyone paid if they needed the police etc.
Gee that would be FUN! "Hey man, ain't my fault your house is burnin' down since you are too lazy to get off your soory arse and make enough to pay for the Fire Dept to come to your house??!!"

I am being raped and kidnapped by a mad women hatin' serial killer,
he ties me up and puts me in a cupboard, but forgets to take my cell phone. I call 911 and tell them whats up. First thing the operator says is "Do you have police protection insurance and are your payments up to date?" "If not I can't help you, goodbye and goodluck with escaping " CLUNK

(OH S@*T!!! I wonder if those socialist postal workers read all the mail I send stateside??? are they reading your mail!!??? YIKES!!)

Frankly.... I'm not even that big on politics... I just think the pot needs stirring every now and then, not to mention a differing viewpoint. People are way more interesting than politics. And I'm good when it comes to people...

So ... I haven't got an e-mail with an addy yet. I'd hate for that magnet to go to waste ... not to mention those two empty seats at the theater.

And you'll get your washing done Dave :) You could sit back and have a cuppa Joe with Mike while it's washing, that could be fun.
