These wingnuts believe the peace symbol is "a symbol of Satan" and want to ban a wreath in that shape from their community: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=2680670

WTF?????

If you wondered why Wyld moved to Colorado, wonder no more. They NEED her there.

Man that is bad they would want to ban a wreath like that. I like peace signs & have 2 peace sign pillows in my den. That stuff about the peace sign being devil symbols has been going around since the 60's. Old folks tried to claim it was a broken cross & a symbol of satan etc. My mom beleived all that crap lol. I remember we kids back then would take ballpoint pens & draw peace signs on our arms to make em look like tatoos. I'd come home from school looking like that that & my mom wouild freal o with my dedcorations in the yut. She'd have me leave them on till my dad got home to show him, then make me wash them off lol. I hope the lady gets to keep it up. I think it looks neat. I always thought it'd be neat to have a lit up peace sign up for Christmas with my decorations in the yard but never have seen one & have no idea how to make one. I hope the lady gets to keep it up....

Symbols mean different things to different people of course. I've never identified a peace sign with satan myself, however, in recent years, I'm not sure I can say the same thing about the presidential seal you see on the podium when the prez. makes a speech.
Sometimes, symbols make people think, and some people just don't wanna think.....or at least don't wanna think about stuff they don't wanna think about. Some folks may simply not wanna "ruin" thier Christmas by thinking about stuff like peace and the failed war in Iraq. I mean what better way to ruin your holiday than to think in the same terms that Jesus may have?

I think making her take it down would be a violation of free speech...I don't know how the laws are written there, but that's my take on it. It's just a wreath, not a burning cross!!

...and what's with the homeowner's association president having the power to fire all the members of the architectural review board for his HOA because they didn't think the way he did? I smell something rotten...and I think he musta forgot he was elected to his position.

That wouldn't happen in Boulder.

Hey! I was thinking of making a big vegie garden on my place (I have 6 and a half acres) in the shape of a peace sign................so it could be seen on Google Earth or even from space!!! Will I burn in hell....or at the stake??? We better hide our brooms kj!

Ugg I could never live in one of those controlled subdivision places.
We have very diverse tastes in my street and no problems.
I'm gonna make a peace sign wreath in support of her.

I bet if someone wanted to put up a lighted up cross decoration there they wouldn't let them. I saw some of those in a hillbilly area of KY when Mikes Uncle died ome yrs back in Dec & we went up there for the funeral. They were so pretty. I'd love to have one of those. I remember coupla ayr or so ago some guy in a subdivision int he Richmond area was flying a flag in his yard cuz he was a vet & the subdivision association was trying to make him take it down which they shoudln't have. He had every right to have that flag up. It was in the news at the time. Sure hope this lady egts to keep her wreath up...

I read the news today and oh boy and I thought of this song about some mothers son. The question I have is why does GW keep talking? Why can't his handlers just say, shut your mouth? I also read that a think tank was getting ready to publish their conclusions on thinking about Iraq? Hello? Shouldn't somebody have thought about it a few years back? I mean, my view of Iraq, three strains of the human species in various states of extreme confusion trying to occupy a fairly limited niche with opposing strains of humans on the edge of that niche who are assuming a vested interest on who occupies that niche based on their states of confusion and so they are poking it and mixing it and making it fester. Now that it is pustulated, how do you make it heal? How do you clean the confusion you have spent so much in lives and resources to create? I guess our best and brightest are going to think about it and publish a report! But somebody shut GW up for crying out loud.

By the way, I fly a flag and have a peace wreath and I say nothing to my heighbor about his shrubbary in the shape of a cross! (although I wave and say howdy in a good natured fashion on occasion).

so, the song I was thinking of:

Some mother's son lies in a field
Someone has killed some mother's son today
Head blown up by some soldier's gun
While all the mothers stand and wait
Some mother's son ain't coming home today
Some mothers son ain't got no grave

Two soldiers fighting in a trench
One soldier glances up to see the sun
And dreams of games he played when he was young
And then his friend calls out his name
It stops his dream and as he turns his head
A second later he is dead

Some mother's son lies in a field
Back home they put his picture in a frame
But all dead soldiers look the same
While all the parents stand and wait
To meet their children coming home from school
Some mother's son is lying dead

Somewhere someone is crying
Someone is trying to be so brave
But still the world keeps turning
Though all the children have gone away

Some mother's son lies in a field
But in his mother's eyes he looks the same
As on the day he went away

They put his picture on the wall
They put flowers in the picture frame
Some mothers memory remains
