It's possible Cheryl, but I'm more inclined to believe the trouble is on the reception end of things! Goodness knows, some of the speakers in here are larger than life! The mixing is superb, but it just isn't being heard somehow.

Telling the truth is more dignified than sticking our heads in the sand when we don't like the truth. At least some Christian denominations say the wine and bread are transformed into the blood and body of Christ, so either they're lying or that's what they're eating and drinking, at least in their own minds--and then many but not all of them look down their noses at people whose rituals are far less gruesome.

OK, if you REALY want to talk about this, it's ok with me. I am a protestant so I don't believe the bread and wine become the "literal" body and blood. You are thinking of Catholics. That "Christian" sect is way off base, in my opinion. Communion is a holy thing. It's the spirit of the communion act that is important not the eating and drinking.

How about some Pentecostals and Church of Christ (Holiness) fellers handling snakes in the name of God? Is that as icky as the Voo Doo queens Hoo Doo fixins?

Pentecostals are entertaining Christians with speaking in tongues and the laying on of hands and all but if you go fishing with a Southern Baptist, always make sure there are at least two of them going along. If you take only one, he will drink all the beer (and he won't bring any).

If people find peace and comfort in their beliefs and it helps them cope with life, good on them, what I don't like is the money part, like certain TV preachers and heads of religions who live in splendor.

I don't like the damnation! Why do so many have to damn so many to Hell? Nor do I care for the ritual slaughter when Muslims decide to kill Christians who decide to kill Jews (I can't keep up with who I am supposed to kill?). I am also not fond of the way Christians cram their beliefs down everybodies throats here in the good old US of A. (It is like the Muslims over there in Arabia with their school books teaching the children how to hate). I see no salvation in God myself!

Being raised Christian, I always found it a bit odd too. Jesus said, "Take, eat, this is my body......." I find it difficult to accept Jesus saying " Eat me" in any literal sense. However, those crazy Pastafarians eat their god all the time, with impunity no less! I don't know how one can reconcile such things.

As a periodic Pastafarian, I can say beyond a doubt that my (periodical) god sustains me. What better god can you have than one that literally does stuff for ya? Food gives life, gods (supposedly) give life ergo, food = god!

If you think about it, the so-called "primitive" gods that actually give you things and sustain life make more sense than a hairy dude floatin' in the sky. Earth, Air, Fire and Water all give life. "Primitive" religions are more eco-friendly, too. I mean, ya wouldn't want to make one of your gods extinct, would ya?
