The war with Canada looks certain now, with the US Forces all in the middle east, and the winter snows flying, I can hear the dog sleds coming as those pesty Canucks once more burn Washington, will we never learn?

The downside is once they kick our ass they just turn around and go home, to them war is but a hockey game, beat the crap out of the other guy and then have some beers, I fear it is hopeless.

Patton was a true leader of men, he was born to war, the crushed bodies of men under the tanks which so bothered Andy Rooney was but a speed bump on the road to victory for Patton. If there must be war, then may we have a thousand such brave men as Patton and in their footsteps may there be such wits as Rooney, watching the policy makers decide who gets to go into Paris first.


Oh don't get me wrong, I did not read the book but I did read several book reviews and I hear it is well written if somewhat flawed as Andy chose his own memory of events rather then to consult the history, which of course makes for better reading.

I do recommend that if anyone goes to the meeting on Friday that they take a book with them as I am sure they will be alone for a long time.

I am not asking anyone to love the man, but George Patton was a great leader of men in times of war, he done what was the first and only job in war, HE WON BATTLES, what matters how he conduced himself otherwise?

He was the first to admit that he was a Bastard, and certainly his dress and manner was outlandish, but he was on the front lines, he lead his men, and he did what had to be done in order to gain victory.

Let us compare his war record with anyone else's, let us compare him to George Bush and then ask ourselves, who best to lead our troops into battle?

Andy's pet peeve about Patton was he took credit for winning battles, when in fact he wasn't even there. Most of the time.
