Fuuny thing is I agree but try telling to 'God' and the 'gods'
that including the one who pops in every year with a "Ho, Ho, Ho." while most kids in the world just wonder about......

Mass extermination in some religion or other never was, is or will ever be a joke (except for the bigoted victors)

There might not be anything better out there (perhaps worse!) but living in hope is better than war

Peace and Goodwill still stands

This is one planet and we got to all live on it. Separatingit in the name of a bunch of different bogus religious identities is not evolutionarily sound. It is not the only thing that has to change. But, It is a critical contributor to mass stupidity today!

The world is not a cartoon with wee little leprechuans and unicorns. It is a dying opportunity for the human race and continued religious stupidity will bring on the apocalypse religious people want so badly!

IT IS NOT A JOKE ANYMORE!

Now that Christmas is behind us maybe we should look at the here and now rather than what's up ahead. For many people 'religion' is perhaps about a moral framework more than anything else. (Perhaps The ten Commandments were a warning of punishment to the law breakers - who cares when the Law is the LAW!)
What would society be like without 'religion' is a question but we are today where we all are and if some people believe in some 'higher power' that assists in promoting their betterment so be it (sadly 'religion' has, is and shall continue to be used and abused, an excuse for hatred as well as a lamp toward peace and goodwill). People will continue to talk and act out their religious fruitcake blues until the little grren men arrive and tell us it was all about them!
So, it doesn't matter a fig-roll if you have or haven't got religion - it boils down to how we treat each other be it Peace or War.
Today more childen, women and men are living in Hell on Earth, than at any other time in human history. (so says the media)
That's good enough reason for the blues without the paper-bag punching of the aloof in their wee wigwams.

Peace and goodwill to all but.......

That is why many religious people chop other peoples heads off because they are morally grounded?

That is why they impose their particular views on morality on everyone?

This is the same old religious horseshit that comes out every time religious people start babbling! OH MY GOD WHAT WOULD TH WORLD BE LIKE WITHOUT GOD? That is why I say,...if you believe in god then shut the f' up...stop killing people..stop praying and carrying on in public ...AND STOP ACTING IN THE NAME OF GOD!

our existence here is precious, this planet is precious.

that is not an argument, i think that you (heraclitis) are saying pretty much the same thing as that.(?)

oh, and that doesn't sound like a small thing to me

And perhaps there's even a few of those GOD believers who also believe that
"our existence here is precious, this planet is precious."

but nay the twain shall ye meet to imagine a brave New World together. Impossible because? Unbelieveable because? But what a Cause to live for rather than taking the Gallum (Lord of the Rings) approach to 'precious'?

And that's my two Irish aul wooden planks worth

may Precious peace and precious goodwill abound all over our rocky old lump of sub-matter spinning around in wee circles around its 'god' along with all the rest of our nearest and knowest.

i am talking about the revered source of their doctrines (the bible, for christians), i am saying that i don't think it is as healthy for humans as it is cracked up to be (which i have said before).

a great piece here, i heard pretty much only the very end of it on the way home from the grocery store this evening. the page dates the radio program to jan. 1, 2015 (so i guess it is a repeat?)

http://interfaithradio.org/Story_Detail ... p_Serpents

this snippet from the end of it:

"we either believe it or we don't believe it, and if we believe it, we're gonna do it."

and considering also the scriptures i have already mentioned on this thread and elsewhere, does not sound healthy for humans to me.
