Really? Then you won't mind if they don't want to buy your insurance then?

This smacks of that magical cosmic Jafo logic but

I have already stated, if Catholics choose to resolve this issue by not offering a Medical Insurance plan to employees, that is their decision.

Look Jafo,

The argument is whether or not churches get a veto power over laws based on faith...I say no. You say?

It doesn't matter what law it is or if you and I agree that it is a good and just law.

There are so many people without health insurance because they choose not to attain it. According to the FCC latest statement, about 87% of the country has a cell phone ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34436946/ns ... zkCkLSwvDM ). Only about 84% of people have health insurance ( http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/201 ... 7_ST_N.htm ).

Seems to me people have their priorities mixed up.. I see many low income people out there with nice clothes, tattoos, phones, cable tv, multiple television sets, internet, 1 or more cars, etc., yet they are the first to cry about health care. If they did not have these LUXURIES, they could afford basic catastrophic care and probably even some form of preventative and/or prescription care too.

I suppose Ipods, phones, and cable are soon to be rights too..

I agree with a lot of what you are saying here.

I am not using the law to force anybody to do anything.

Yes you are. The church has offered health insurance to it's employees. Now here you swoop in and say that they must also cover contraception, even if it is against their religious beliefs. Who the hell are you to say such a thing? Who gave you the power to tell people what they must purchase from a private company? Don't say you are not forcing anybody to do anything because it is intellectually dishonest, something I know you are accustomed to, but spare the rest of us please.

heraclitis wrote:
The law says that contraception fails under the category of health.

So what? Again, who gave you the authority to force me to follow YOUR definition of health? Where is that in the Constitution again? Oh I forgot, you could care less about the Constitution except for the times you hide behind it.

heraclitis wrote:
Insurance companies don't care what they cover, it is just a business.

Insurance companies cover what they believe will entice people to purchase their product within their risk parameters.

heraclitis wrote:
You really think insurance companies knock the price off because they don't cover contraception?

Again, since you didn't answer me last time, what the Hell does price have to do with Constitutionality? You think the Church is bitching about price? Nice red herring, but cost has nothing to do with it.

heraclitis wrote:
Medical providers don't care what they provide, it is just a business. The people who are being hurt are those who work for an employer that has line item excluded contraception and want to purchase contraception but have to do it outside of their Medical Insurance.

Really? How are they being "hurt"? They are free to choose another employer. They are not slaves. They can purchase their own insurance. In fact, once these regulations go into effect, they WILL be buying their own insurance, which I believe is the goal of this entire overreach. It will force private organizations out of providing social services so the benevolent government can swoop in to save the day and say "see, we can't trust you to take care of each other". What a bunch of socialist bullshit.

heraclitis wrote:
Why are they being treated differently?

Because, this is supposed to be a FREE society where entities can choose what products they purchase and not be dictated to by others. You just wait until someone wields this power who you don't agree with. You lemmings just give away this power with no idea how it can be used against you. You wait until your employer has to cover eugenics or some other procedure you find offensive (if you even find eugenics offensive at all).

heraclitis wrote:
Why do they have to give a shit about Catholics and God or Muslims and God or whoever and God.

Because we are a country that believes in religious liberty. We were founded on it. It is noted in the first amendment you love to forget about.

heraclitis wrote:
What if the employer decided God doesn't like antibiotics or God doesn't believe in treating cancer so we are not going to cover that?

THEN GET A DIFFERENT JOB!

heraclitis wrote:
When you line item what is available in the area of medical care, whose liberties are really at issue?

That is what YOU are doing! So answer your own question.

heraclitis wrote:
If you don't like Employer based Medical Insurance or you feel it impinges on employer rights, then work to change the law so that contraception does not fall in this category.

Oh believe me, we are. We are working extremely hard to throw all of this garbage out.

heraclitis wrote:
Firearms fall under Medical Care how?

Why stop at medical care? Why is government involved in medical care? You say to help people protect themselves. Well, you can apply the same false reasoning to force people to buy firearms.

No that is not what the argument is about, nice try. The argument is, who gave the federal government the power to force companies to provide services they don't want to provide? There is no Constitutional power for that.

Your response to that, as best I can tell, is that the insurance companies don't care if they cover contraception. It is a cost benefit to them, blah blah blah. Tell me, what cost benefit is it to them if people stop buying their insurance, namely religious organizations hmm? You have no answer for that, so I don't expect you will reply with anything other than "grain of salt".

Let's take the Agnes and Heraclitis argument shall we?

To sum it up: Free contraception is not only a human right, but it must be provided by the employer.

I say that is BULLSHIT. Not only is it afoul of the Constitution, it is morally wrong, whether the employer is an INDIVIDUAL or a CORPORATION or a CHURCH matters not. There is no individual right to medicine. If people want health insurance that covers contraception they have the LIBERTY and FREEDOM to purchase it themselves and nobody, especially the government or a church is allowed to deny them that.

What Agnes and Heraclitis want is to force a church to provide insurance that provides contraception when said church has a religious exception to it. Somehow they have it in their mind that all employers not only MUST provide health insurance, but THE insurance THEY want.

So please, don't talk to me about Libertarianism, you two are about tyranny, not liberty.

interesting...

this is what was said, (from page 1...)

There is a right to medication?

They do pay for it. It is an insurance program.

I am not now nor have I ever been a fan of employer based health insurance but the conservatives and tea party will not give it up so, really, should you be commenting on it?

They pay for SOME of it yes, but if the company that provides the insurance doesn't want to cover procedures that are against its religious beliefs, there is a Constitutional protection that says they do not have to..

so if i am of a religion that does not believe in using contraceptives and i start a company, hiring a diverse group of people (some may be religious, some may not be). and through my company i offer health insurance that would cover contraceptives...i will say no to the contraceptives for others, because i don't believe in using them myself?

Wedge issues like this we have been tired of since they told us to wear seat belts. They have better things to do. But its no wonder, that the only industrialized nation with for profit insurance is rated 37th in the world. It doesn't operate out of any common sense. Its cheaper to provide birth control than to end up paying for an abortion. Last I heard abortions were legal, though we wonder much when so many still bring up that they are murder. Back room abortions use to cost a lot of lives. And hell, even if the religious right get their way and outlaw them, the rich could still afford a way to get a safe one. All these wedge issues do, is keep the public's eyes off of the issues, whose fruits, produce the bs. Which to me, is mainly from the greed of the few who bought our Govt.
