What?

all religions and religions all. Will take my chances with whatever resides on the other side be it spiritual or not, its anyone's guess and all are entitled to have their guesses and may the 'gods' be with ya.

"There is much to ponder, and not much worth pondering." - ADG

Move it on from a 'what' and rather than get stuck on the carousel of religious debate why not something more serious like joining the church of Free Hugs?

so you support the removal of heads in the name of entitlement of faith?

what?

evidently there are still serious problems (that sounds serious to me)

(emphasis in bold is mine)

The point is Ireland is not unique. The whole world has had to deal with these god fantasies of "men and mere mortals" and people who don't believe in god are tired of having to put up with this stupid bullshit. I dont want to hear about a moment of prayer! I dont want to be subjected to mass appeals for god's blessing.

and I say these things over and over again cause i have to put up with religious fruitcakes in my world everyday

there was a time in my naive youth when i could care less if you wanted to worship monkey piss in the name of allahchristyahwehbedamnedalmighty...i cant see returning to that world because god believers wont leave other people alone
we have to put up with their f'n prayers and whining and bullshit
oh, but i believe in the good god...good god is right, shut the F up!
now i am tired of hearing it and dealing with it

yeah, and as i mentioned earlier on this thread, about some who have demonized planned parenthood for instance (?) and try to use shame (they will try to shame you) in all piousness for your standing up for how important a resource something like this is, by going on about abortion (which as i understand it, is a small part of what they do) (and as far as i know, everyone wants that to be a rare thing) and then go on about, no contraceptives! no contraceptives! *piety*piety* !?

it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. (dark ages)

and, in light of the scriptures i have pointed out (there are links to those and that, right here on this thread), makes it even more absurd.

but no, don't question or look critically at the scriptures, because handily, that would be blasphemy.

wow, that is some sweet gig! (?)

Your absolutely right, we should all have to live to the letter of gods rules.

who gets to be the conduit of god to day and tell us how to live?

I mean really?

i suppose the one on a soapbox who can promise or threaten the most about heaven & hell? ( maybe having a 'Signs & Wonders box of tricks with a user's manual and working some 'magic' conduit of god tricks captures a selective audience and saves them in the Nick of time before eternity  )

But shoud we not have much to do about something else more promising and perhaps even more threatening like...

i don't know what point you are making.

Swings and roundabouts Agnes rather than something more debatable. Folks have their own opinions on gody stuff and one can get to swinging mind-bags full of our own valuables, even bricks. Perhaps there are tad more interesting debatable sugar lumps to suck on but that's probably just another oul lump or other. Heraclitis doesn't seem to mince his words re above. I just wondering if we could enjoy a more entering dump of internation stew if all threw their wee bits in with their own particular prejudice. Might make for a peculiar taste to spice up the onion rings?
Who knows, maybe even god will jump out in a flash of divine inspiration and pass on a vision or even a dream or three?

People will continue to kill people for just about anything including any bloody god they latch on to, also any religion with ot without "God" that dishes out stones to throw. In fact people don't really require an excuse to kill someone, even if that someone sticks their hands up in the air and shouts "Don't shoot"!!!!!

I may just be talking about 'sugar lumps' but I'd prefer a sugar mammy to bush burning daddy in a brave New World

oh, and for the record, i do not deny and have not denied that there are other elements involved in violence and war besides religion, but as i said on the other thread, there are those who will totally marginalize these brutal events in the bible, and continue to reference and revere it as the holy word of god. again, a tolerance for treachery and brutality in the name of god and religion.

http://arlo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f= ... &start=225

referring specifically to the bottom of post #12 . the thread is full of examples of this.

and over here you say generally, oh, "much to do about nothing" whatever it is directed at,,,the brutality pointed out in the bible? all with the lords blessing?

the demonization of a resource like planned parenthood? it is like, pretty much exactly like there are those striving backwards towards what these folks (in the video) are trying to advance away from:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuntDNsQGcc

i don't think these would count as "much to do about nothing" either

"Kill! Kill! Kill...!" (a wee quote by a very young Arlo from that movie he loves. I hope i got the number of 'Kills' correct as it's been a while since i saw Arlo in Y-Fronts!)

Mankind has, is and shall continue the killing business as usual until 2069 when i predict with the outmost confidence a new awakening when mankind will beat his swords and computers into food and then the end shall come!

(and just in case you think me a 'fruitcake' i can also assure you that when Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland he also sent the 'Little People' packing to some place called Hollywood. (and you won't fin that in any history book either butt its 'true' so they tell me)

Everyone! Happy Christmas, Happy X-mass, Happy Arlomass and may the New Year bring some sanity to you know who....

(Clear as mud in yer eye or even much to do about nothin - Oops!)

Seasons Greetings ye all

Taking the title of this thread as it is i feel just a wee bit inspired to write a wee bit about a Spiritually Physic Sensation I happened to experience just last Sunday past. Now coming from a background of being by family tradition an Irish catholic up until I was a teenager when having delved into religion and stuff (including my own tradition) i decided to become a catholic atheist rather than play the game of religion just to please whoever. Then while in the Irish Defence Forces I had what I later discovered was an 'Out of the Body Experience'. (Was in my bed in the barracks one night, eyes closed, very relaxed, sleepy but awake. Next thing I knew was I was looking down at my body from above, approx three feet or more. Scared the manure out off me and I began, yep, I began reciting those well rehearsed childish prayers that I knew from the time I was an Altar boy, a Choir boy and a Confraternity boy, a catholic boy! Well, the next thing I knew I was back in my body and boy was i relieved! My comrades sleeping in beds on either side of me were still sleeping so rather than wake them up and them reporting me as going nuts I kept that little secret to myself.

A couple of years went by and I did all the usual things. Then a comrade gave me a book by Hal Lindsey (I think it was called 'The Late Great Planet Earth' and some time later I became a born-again Christian (The Irish Defence Forces had to come up with a new pigeon-hole for the likes of me and others so we were officially labelled 'Irish Christian Unaffiliated'. I remained so for approx fifteen years and my wife and kids were very much involved in the Fellowship we attended. But as I studied the Bible I discovered more questions rather than answers and began looking (god forbid) elsewhere after discovering in the Bible that Paul was recorded as having an 'Out of the body' experience and went to the 'Third Heaven'. To cut a long story short, we finished with the christians, moved house and that was that. Did some more reading as I mentioned in earlier threads and that brings me to where I am today. I haven't got the belief to be a believer in 'god/s' but I also haven't got the belief to be an Athiest. So I suppose I'll just pigeon=hole myself as an agnostic of sorts for the time being!
(I'm 'shooting from the hip' with this post so it probably doesn't hold much holey water)

Anyway, last sunday I was working and as part of my job I drive a mini-bus. While on a trip into town I passed by the house where one of my sons and his family are living and a strange feeling came over me as i just passed by their house. Tonight I began thinking about that 'feeling' and having discussed the matter with my wife I have come to the conclusion that what I experienced was not some kind of nostalgic feeling as i know what they are having experienced them many times. This was something different in nature so I have decided to name it as a Spiritually Physic Experience' and just as real as that 'Out of the Body' experience I had years ago. (I did have perhaps 'spiritual' experiences in the past as well as physic stuff) Oh, an approx fifteen minutes later I bumped into my Son's family in town which was nice.

I remain an agnostic but am just wondering what other folks think besides the usual. Like anyone else in the Dump have similar experiences and would share them?
(Maybe I'm reading too much into the experience. On the other hand maybe I'm writing too much about nothing, who knows?) And the Good News is, you don't have to be 'religious' to be just crazy! It would appear that even if its just a figment of human imagination, Mother Nature still has some tricks up her trunk to surprise with a little wink of joy. Who cares if its all in the mind - better than some other stuff i suppose!

Sleep well into eternity folks whatever your faith and don't worry about what's under the bed

Ps. I'll probably wonder tomorrow morning why I wrote the a/m but maybe not. I like fruitcakes, especially home baked. Most of us shrink as we grow older probably because we eat less. Eat more fruitcakes?
