What has bugged me for years, is how they talk of smaller Govt, while breaking the Unions which are the smaller govt. They have no vision of ever restoring The Middle Class. We need people in power who can see over the horizon, not who can't even see the horizon.

If you look at what the Republican party WAS...like in the Eisenhower years, the current Democratic party is a lot more like that NOW...I saw one recent comparison that equated Obama with a good Eisenhower Republican. What the parties stand for have kind of flip-flopped.

Listening to that recent debate speech, where the Tea Partiers laughed, clapped and cheered when it was suggested that a 35 year old man should just die if he was seriously injured and had no insurance...that was kind of it for me. Heartless slimeball bastards! Any of you out there without health insurance? They were cheering for YOU.

I would like ''them'' to talk of what their views are on providing for the general welfare? To me that could have as well said, common good. One thing that that means to me today is that they should make sure we have things like affordable Healthcare. I haven't heard anyone say they want free Healthcare, as seems to be implied when its talked of.

leo, yeah, enough with the price gouging already! not just the insurers but the hospitals and the outrageously high prices for drugs. a public option still sounds worth pursuing to me.

i just finally got a chance to watch the clip sue was referring to...the short clip i saw doesn't seem to address that some (if not a lot of) folks don't have or get health insurance because they simply can't afford it. i know when i was way younger than the thirty year old (who was mentioned in a hypothetical situation), i always got it when i could afford it! (for whatever that is worth) the issue that seems to have been missed in that brief clip i saw was people not having it because they can't afford it! i am talking lots of working people at that!

In some people's eyes, if you're not a card-carrying Republican, you ARE a liberal...and liberals are demonized in thousands of churches...so to vote anything but Republican is going against their religion, because that's what their pastor told them. Too bad most of those sheeple can not think for themselves. They truly believe that they'll go to hell for voting anything BUT Republican. It's true; I've heard it straight from people's mouths.

Its sad, but it only says that Congress shall make no law regarding religion. The same kind of leaders as today, attacked Jefferson back then. But I for one would sure like to be free from religion.

I think that says a lot. Yes, folks are arguing about what that means, but what kind of law(s) would you like them to make regarding religion? Any legislation would restrict individual rights. Remember, Democracy is a very misunderstood concept in that it is about way more than "majority rules." The true spirit of Democracy seeks to protect the minority(s) (each and every one!) from the imposition of majority control. Pure Democracy in theory provides for the disinfranchized (those lacking a loud enough voice, or social capital) to retain their so-called inalienable rights, even in the face of overwhelming majority opposition, discrimination and oppression. Key word here: in theory.............
