There is an online petition/letter to ABC from MoveOn.org about the inane and trivial questions posed to the candidates by ABC's "moderators". Although some may argue that it comes dangerously near stepping on the whole "freedom of the press" thingy, I'd argue whether ABC's "news department" (in the debates, at least) could even qualify as "the press". Jerry Springer could have done a better job!!!

Thanks, Zap! I still had my old e-mail addy registered at MoveOn, so I didn't get that message. Your post reminded me; I signed the letter to ABC and changed the e-mail setting.

No, Moveon.org is great, i loved what they did and will sign the petition.

I am deeply troubled by the issue of thinly disguised sensationalized reporting, the influence money has on the media, the role puditocracy plays in this election, the scarcity of unbiased news reporting, and the direction and speed with which news is going up in flames or down the toilet, take your chioce.

You would think Stephanopolous would have been above that, but then again, he did move from a job close to the source to one that needs ratings.

so yea, the future of how politics are played out to the voting public, the role of the media and who controls the media , is troubling me. Sorry if i used a bad choice of words, i hear it happens ... :wink:

Obama has ,for the most part, kept his stuff out of the gutter. Hillary has resorted to a bit more dumpster diving now that what she thought what was hers is not and will not be, in all likelyhood.
As unfair as some of the questions were towards Obama, sometimes you learn more about a person when they face that kind of stuff if you happen to be a thinking person.I admire the guy more for how he has handled some of the stuff thrown his way. The sad part is in these times of soundbites, many people don't think before they vote as much as we might like them to.
