and on a separate note... i just signed up with netflix this week, and i'm busy setting up my list of movies... so keep those suggestions coming rb... after seein' all the 'current' crap, we always like to go back and watch the old crap as well!

If that's the same movie I'm thinking of it ahd Frank Zappa & Ringo Star in it. I never saw it but remember seeing it advertised...

I had an Aunt Alice, who lived her entire life in St. Albans Vermont. She was a spinster who lived with her only sister. Mary LeMiere. Alice was indeed ahead of her times, as she advocated the flossing of one's teeth. (I think she owned shares of Listerene stock). Very fond memories of Aunt Alice. She lived to be in her late 90's, and had all her teeth, to the end. She didn't smoke, but enjoyed her homemade wine. Not to mention, an occasional ice cold ale, or small glass of Champaine. she was quite a gal! Old Aunt Alice was.........<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/cool.gif" width=15 height=15>

*Yes, she out lived Mary by about 9 yrs. She worked as a Telephone Operator during the depression, leaving her a good pension. And living her lifestyle, one can only speculate?

anyway...another alice is in the movie "conspiracy theory" with julia roberts (as alice) and mel gibson (as jerry). very convincing performances from both of them (i got someone looking over my shoulder saying, "and she should know." but don't listen to them) <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>
...i love mel gibson's passionate character...one of my favorite scenes is not where he can't remember the combination to the coffee canister and with a sense of futility offers alice grapefruit juice instead, "i can't seem to remember the combination to the coffee, would you like some grapefruit juice instead?"...it's when he remembers the combination right after trying to explain (on the edge of tears) why he owns so many copies of "catcher in the rye" (though he's not read any of them) as something he has to do in order to feel normal..."you still want some coffee?"
...and also where alice throws jerry out of her apartment after she's lost any capacity for understanding his idiosyncrasies, closing the door firmly behind him...and after a moment he opens the door and tells her to dead bolt the door, "use your dead bolts, alice." then closes himself back out.
and...and...
well, it's not a 60's movie, but it is an alice movie.
