Hey Len, My niece was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma about 4 years ago. I'm not sure of the exact details of her treatment, but it lasted about a year, and I know there was some chemo involved. She gets checked every 3 or 6 months and so far so good. Anyhow, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family......from one guitar picker to another, you and I both know well the incredible healing powers of music.....take care my friend, positive attitude rules!!! In the 1970s, Dylan did a tour he called the Rolling Thunder Review. In the 1980s, Arlo, being downstream and all, did one called the Rolling Blunder Review. At some point that year, I guess he conceived the idea of the Rolling Blunder Review as a newsletter, and had sign-up sheets on the 'get stuff' tables at his gigs. At least, that's how we started getting the newsletter. And then in 1991 he sent the message out via the newsletter addresses about buying the church, and Blunderites, and Blundering, etc., etc. followed, and pretty soon it was a movement, with even a place to call Home!

And is he sorry now!

I added a new song tonight. The vocals are polished turds, but this recording at home alone stuff gets hard tonight. Purists can stifle.

Long at over six minutes, but I had a story to tell. An anti war song in the sense that the cost is always personal and generational, like the pestilence of old. I wrote it at the beginning of Iraq knowing I might have to watch my son go this time. Didn't happen but it's a reason I sat on it for so long.

I don't mean to draft on Arlo's list with my songs. I just want to share with friends. If that's not ok with the 'slinger and the community, just say so and I won't do this.

Len -- Best wishes on your treatment, and: Terry Pratchett, "Small Gods" (for the book -- one of my top 5 of all time). If you're not familiar with him, he's a British fantasy writer, very funny -- same kind of humor as Arlo, in some ways -- the kind that makes you go "hahahahah...oh" -- and SG is (imho) not only his but one of the most profound books around.

I didn't set out to write an anti-war song. It was about my son when they started the last one. It seems to me America has been on a 70 year stomp on the globe. The message was in the images. All I had to do was search. So, if we are to use human memory as the guide, we can only be fair witnesses, but we must reveal all that we see.

The problems we have today among all our people are caused by attitude. They are caused by an attitude that was given to us in boarding schools and on reservations that were nothing more than concentration camps in the past. They are attitudes by people who came to us talking to us about God and wanting us to embrace their version of religion and as one brother said once, “They told us to bow our heads, and when we looked up our land was gone, our culture was gone, our children was gone, our way of life was gone.” And now the air itself is dwindling.
