I was newly married when the first Clinton election , and I am here to tell you that my husband belived he owned both votes in the household.

Jim and I usually discuss the elections and candidates, but rarely tell each other how we're voting until the election is over with. The interesting thing is that we've usually been on the same page, even the year we didn't like any of the republican or democratic candidates and both voted for Perot instead. We're free to disagree with each other.

Why don't we start the rumor that McCain is the real father of Sarah Palin's yet to be born grandchild?( It's actually the best reason I can think of for him selecting her........if you don't count the dementia) I mean if the McCain camp can spread the terrorist stuff..................

What I am struggling with is how could we have gotten to a place where a Sarah Palin is in the second highest spot on the Republican ticket, a spot which, should they win, would put her in command if McCain became incapacitated. Come ON! She is having a difficult time enough wrapping her brain around what the duties are of the VP!!!!!!

When you consider many of the duties of the president, it seems to me any candidate who could potentially be president should be required to have passed a bar exam in at least one state, and thus could be disbarred if unethical action occur. That would be very helpful right about now in her investigations, but oh, yeah, she barely made it though undergrad...Did Sarah act unethically ...oh - we'll we can't disbar her , so.. so what? She cannot show she has a understanding of the constitution, yet could be appointing supreme court justices?

(She does not even have a working understanding of the typical American home, as she trots her pregancy teenager on stage and says" Oh , were just the typical American family".

I am sorry her daughter has the misfortune of ( soon ) becoming a teen mother, and concerned that the daughter's best interest might have been second to the career of her mother's ( did I say that? ), but typically American families do not have pregant teenagers, I am sorry!

I believe we are not able to change the minds of the rascists, the ill informed, the ignorant, the hate mongers, etc. I do hope there are enough people who can think things through, to get Obama elected. He is smart, unlike bush, palin or mc same, and we need a person who can look at our many problems and find real answers. Not a hateful cheerleader. Not line the pockets of corporate fat cats. I feel so sorry for those that do not have the ability to think this through. They can't help it.

Making it mandatory for all candidates to pass the bar exam means only lawyers need apply. I have a problem with the idea that one must be a lawyer (or have studied enough law to pass the bar exam) to be President. It eliminates all the little guys...who may be really smart (and may have a degree or degrees in something else) and would be great in the office except for...the bar exam.

We got too darn many lawyers already. Passing an exam doesn't mean they won't bend the laws! I found out the hard way that having a CPA-certified accountant for a business partner wasn't good...the education just taught her how to steal from the business more creatively, and the same could be said for lawyers...sometimes the learning teaches creative dishonesty.

I think you should at least have to go on that tv show "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader" and hold your own.

Let's not underestimate the value of a law degree for those in politics.....I mean, you've got to go through a lot of schooling for a long time to become a liar, er, I mean lawyer.....

I am only saying that passing a bar exam indicates you know that state's laws, and then being sworn in as lawyer holds you to the law.

Multiple people in my family are lawyers (5) . The went to law school, they studied for the bar, took the exam , they all passed it the first time ( but that is not always the case) Now they are lawyers.

What I am saying is that I really respect that they went to law school and not just studied the law, but sat for and passed the bar and proved they knew the law. That there is are candidates in position to run this country that have not done this is upsetting to me.

Yeah, I agree with Sue. You shouldn't have to be a lawyer to be prez. The little people do need to be given more of a chance...
