I find it odd that so-called christians had no problem coming over here in the first place in overwhelming odds, using their own laws in another's sovereign land to cheat them out of the places they'd lived for a thousand years, and when that didn't work had no problem murdering anyone who stood in the way, to occupy this continent. Now, others come who are for the most part peaceful, law-abiding, and working hard, these descendants of the first invaders, seem to forget the single most important tenant, the very foundation of both Judaism and Christianity, to do undo others as you would have them do unto you. Time and circumstance may change, but for me these words do not diminish for the sake of a nations convenience. Those who have benefitted from the crimes of others have given up the right to critique those who break lesser laws. Our first American ancestors did not arrive here in the same desperation as most of those who come now. At my table those who are hungry eat first, those who get there first have the common courtesy to wait. A little more of this common kindness would go a long way these days in my estimation.

We're not all liberals here lol. The Wiz has me in his corner lol. I agree with him on most stuff. I do kinda think the conservatives are spending more time on the immigration thing instead of trying to get in the White House next time & defeat Hillary & that crowd. We gotta make sure HIllary & that crowd don't get in there next time. The Dubya haters are trying their best to keep conservatives outta the White House next time. So the conservatives gotta keep on working harder to stay in. And amen on the do unto others, Arlo hon... :)

I don't know anyone who hates the president, left, right or center. I do know a lot of people who don't like themselves. Some of 'em run for congress, and condemn in others the very things they themselves do.

They'll tell you they are for family values, they'll tell you that the left wing hates Christians, they'll tell you war protesters are against the interests of the government, then they'll tell you that you need to vote for them to protect the American way of life. They'll tell you all kinds of things.

They are liars and deceivers. It's the old Scribes & Pharisees again - the law-makers and the preachers. These are the kinds of people who sold out the one who told us "'Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake."

It is the neo-conservatives who prey on the poor in spirit, taking money from huge multinational corporations insuring their interests are heard before ours. It's is the president and his friends who have lied before the world and told us the enemy was in Iraq, causing the mourning of millions. It is the evangelical leaders who abandon mercy for political power, lying to those pure in heart while they party in brothels and bathrooms. The peacemakers are made to look like fools, and those who work for justice are thwarted at every turn by these liars, traitors, and hypocrites.

Follow them if you wish. Vote for them as you like. But do not believe them. Do not be deceived by them. And do not abandon your own common sense. They are tumbling down faster then the walls of Jericho. I would err on the side of caution and move away from the walls...

adg (after 2 cups of coffee)

Over time, probably a lot of time, if we are to survive as a species it won't be us and them, but only us. Immigration with proper controls is fine. The "problem" with "Illegals" is one we largely caused ourselves, so who can we blame? So long as we keep the Australians out, I say let everyone else in! :D

Well said adg, obviously not de-caf.:)
Reagan used to ask "Are YOU better off now than you were four years ago"? It's time we not only asked that question in a slightly varied form for the next election,"Are WE better off than WE were four years ago?" but we should also ask " Do you think Jesus would have voted for Bush?"

The peacemakers are made to look like fools

That one made me think a bit. OK it is an age old trick that subterfuge, I mean, I have said before that if religious people (even the neo conservatives) wouldn't get so kooky and start trying to kill everybody I wouldn't care what they believed but when you question that fundamental streak in them that leads to stuff like killing everybdy and saying the Earth is here only for the purpose of human consumption they always say stuff like you have to prove evolution is true before you start questioning our killing ways and destructive attitudes. So then you go down this path of logic and reason and evidence on evolution (or whatever) and they just laugh because they have faith which trumps logic and reason. Seems the same with wars and stuff. They say they will eventually win if they just get to keep killing people a little longer and you say what are you going to win if keep killing people a little longer? So, they say, you have to prove killing everybody isn't the answer before we stop killing everybody. Once again you go down the path of logic and reason. Killing everybody just pisses people off. So the survivors start banding together and killing everybody back. and if nobody ever takes the step to stop killing everybody then the killing wont stop. Then they say stuff like "if you want to stop killing people then you don't believe in freedom!" and your just standing there going what the hell does that mean? You have to kill people to believe in freedom? Just wandering around here a bit but

ADG, Once you said you wrote a political song and the next day Agnew resigned.

They're elbowing each other out of the way to get out of DC lately, and I wondered, have you been writing? And if not, I wonder how many more might resign if you started? Worth a try.

I used to curl my hair or wash my car to make it rain. We have more influence over the universe than we might think.
