Cheryl, I'll submit that the right wingers do more talking about morals than they do about practicing them. Depending on how you care to define morals, that could be said to an extent about both sides I'll admit.
The right wing does to an extent rob from the poor to give to the rich.The right wing got us involved in an immoral war. The right wing condones torture of prisoners. As a fellow Christian, I find it hard to imagine that Jesus would vote for them.
If your morals concerns include concepts like gay rights as it relates to your religion, I'll respect your views as best I can, but remember, government and elected leaders are there to run the business of the country, not to set it's moral compass as it may relate to controversail topics that are more based in relgious concepts that secular concepts. or, at least that's how it should be.
If you want to share the morals and values of whatever religious leaders you chose, that's fine. But that does not mean you need vote for someone that may hold themselves up to that standard. You will find that they almost always fall short, as we all do.
Many of these people are genuine, but many are con-men fooling people into to voting against their own best interests and making them feel good and even rightous about it. "W" is a prime example. Are you better off now than between 8 and 16 years ago?
I can't speak for Jesus, but if he were voting in this election, I think he would vote for Obama.

Like Bill Maher said the other night on Real Time: " Barack Obama spent 20 years in the same pew at his church in Chicago, which proved to some people he was a muslim. John McCain has not been to church in 20 years, which proves he's a Christian". ( Somewhat paraphrasing).

Anyhow kid! I hope stuff improves for you and all of us under an Obama administration!

All I know is this. As I sit here tonight watching the polls come in I have never seen in my lifetime so many people of this country come together and unite. I can't help but marvel at the crowds that are gathering all across the country to celebrate together.as one. Even something more amazing is that it is not just any one particular group of people comming together but African Americans, Caucasians, Asians and Latin Americans. So in my view this country is getting better already...hopefully that momentum continues....

It's a combination of the Hope that Obama offers, and the mess that George Bush created. The perfect storm.

I will say, in the last race, I voted for Kerry largely because he was not George Bush. This time I voted fro Obama because he is Obama. That's a nice feeling to have.
