Just over a year ago Canada lost former prime minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau,I like many others thought he was a great leader, this is part of one of his son,s eulogy:
"There were certain basic principles that could never be compromised.

As I guess it is for most kids, in Grade 3, it was always a real treat to visit my dad at work.

As on previous visits this particular occasion included a lunch at the parliamentary restaurant which always seemed to be terribly important and full of serious people that I didn't recognize.

But at eight, I was becoming politically aware. And I recognized one whom I knew to be one of my father's chief rivals.

Thinking of pleasing my father, I told a joke about him -- a generic, silly little grade school thing.

My father looked at me sternly with that look I would learn to know so well, and said: "Justin, never attack the individual. One can be in total disagreement with someone without denigrating him as a consequence."

Saying that, he stood up and took me by the hand and brought me over to introduce me to this man. He was a nice man who was eating with his daughter, a nice-looking blond girl a little younger than I was.

My father's adversary spoke to me in a friendly manner and it was then that I understood that having different opinions from those of another person in no way precluded holding this person in the highest respect.

Because mere tolerance is not enough: we must have true and deep respect for every human being, regardless of his beliefs, his origins and his values" Justin Trudeau
it "fits" for me!!Image

zowie comes in and starts spewing away, fuck this, fuck that..name calling (which he can't abide)and you see that as creative and witty? but, when other people discuss an issue and happen to agree on some points, that's some kind of gang mentality meant to drive someone from the forums? okie dokie.. just so i understand where you're coming from there, bumper.

btw..i had no problem expending the energy to look up fitzy's post. zowie had said he was "gone" a number of times in the afternoon. fitzy replied..and i quote..

"yeah, yeah, thats what they all say...but its easier said than done, huh?

i'm not even in this fucking "debate" but when you start stomping your feet and threatening the "take my marbles and go home"...well you do get my attention."

now, show me where she said i "dare" you to leave. could it be that she was really just saying...it's easier said than done?

Wow Deb, you managed to quote what Fitzy said, exactly, without messing up a single word.

And without the help of the little automated button at the bottom.

Some people can't manage that even using the button that does all the work for them.

So, unless someone can convince me why I should keep this home for the mentally insane open any longer, the community forums will close this Saturday afternoon.

okay, bumper. if that's the deal, then i would much rather be seen as part of a gang mentality with a few people i like and respect, while we try and discuss issues calmly, then be witty and creative, if that means requiring me to blow people off with a fuck this and fuck that. each to their own...

or did you mean that you accepted my thoughts on what fitzy said?

i guess i'm really not quite sure exactly what you're cool with. if you could be more specific, i guess that would help.

seems to me that bumper is just proving the point over and over again. he wants to lay blame and point fingers and take no responsibility...there seems to be a lot of that going on around here...[and if you think, perhaps i'm talking about YOU...i probably am]

if you dont want a freaking response then DONT POST. it really isnt that complicated.

That's an easy one for me... First, I liked his music - plain and simple. Then when I saw him in concert and saw the whole connection with the audience and how he really seemed to care about them (signing autographs, etc), it just strengthend that feeling. Plain and simple that's what attracted to me to him... wasn't the message, or his politics or anything else like that.

which post of mine, would that be, Dave?
Sherry, I take responsibility for everything I post, always, whether others agree with me, or not...
Deb, if you see me as having a "doulble-standard" re: zowie's post & those who disagreed, with him, that's cool...
and, while Fitzy didn't "dare" Zowie to leave, to me, that's clear, in the implication, of what she said
any more specifis I can provide for you?

no, bumper.. you think it's okay...even creative and witty...to come into the forums to blow up at people, call them names and swear at them. but, if someone dares to disagree with said person, that's a personal attack meant to drive someone away. your point of view is all clear now.
