Cheryl, that would be none other than former Texas gubernatorial candidate, Kinky Friedman!

Correction: former and current Texas gubernatorial candidate. The Kinkster's gonna give Kay Bailey Hutchinson a run for her money.

Check out the "Bloody Mary Morning" event. It will be about 3 miles from our house. If I won the lottery, I'd be there in a heartbeat, but it's a bit rich for our blood. I'll bet Arlo could get in without a ticket there, though.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't remember who did it. I saw an interesting program on Kinky on one of the channels back when he was running for governor...

Another indication that the gun toters at these town hall meetings may be shooting themselves in the foot: Travel guide guru Arthur Frommer has decided to boycott Arizona because of their gun laws and in response to the armed demonstrators at the Obama event last week.

losing power. That's what the Dems are afraid of, imho. Everything they do, everything (almost) any politician does, is geared toward looking at their own reelection prospects, not the greater or longer-term good. And we the people, of course, enable them in this effort, with the help of a media which can't accurately report on much of anything.

Maybe they will eventually pass a bill, perhaps timed just so that they can brag about it during the 2010 election season, but I am not very hopeful about the quality of what they will pass. On the up side, it will probably create many jobs for lawyers trying to untangle (or further tangle) whatever mess they manage to create because they are paying more attention to their own shadows and not to what they are writing.

Well said Eileen. And it is the same thing in local politics here in Cali as well.
