Actually, for me the biggest issues are that we have a president elect who gives us hope, and one who has a grasp of the problems we face. Plus, he's lived overseas and has an understanding of just how much lives of Americans abroad are directly affected by US policies. It's a relief to finally be able to proudly say "I'm American, and yes, I voted for him!" lol! For too long when I've been asked where I'm from, I'd say "Texas, but I think Bush is an idiot."

I remember when it used to be 21 to vote. They had a campaign going on back then to let folks vote at 18. By the time I'd voted it changed to 18...

This thought just popped into my mind: how can any christian believe in these latter days we are living through. that 100 to 10,000 years of war would be even close to moral?

Christianity---true and pure Christianity as articulated by Jesus---is a beautiful concept. But it has only been practiced by individuals and very small groups of people.
Communism---true and pure communism (from each, according to their abilities; to each, according to their needs)---is a beautiful concept. But it has only been practiced by very small groups of people.
But the corruptions of power and greed and intolerence have bastardized these concepts every time when they were tried on a larger scale.
Pure Christianity and Pure Communism---both beautiful concepts that exist only in theory---on any kind of scale neither has ever existed, and neither exists now.

All things in common once existed by the first Saints. That Principal can work today.

Thanks for answering my question. My son asked me, cause he wanted to vote too. We thought about that possibility too late, and I really don't know how to do it form over here. The only document he has is an american birthcertificate.

Maybe Louise can provide some ideas for getting ready before next time--she's a dual U.S./Australia citizen, and votes in both countries' elections.

Brigitte, just contact an American Consulate in Germany and they will send you all the papers to fill out. Then your son will recieve an absentee ballot from whichever county and state he is registered in on his birth certificate. :)

Thanks for the information, we will do that in time before the next election. I'm glad he is interested in it.
