Environmental Group Backing Edwards

From Associated Press
October 24, 2007
CONCORD, N.H. - A national environmental group that recently endorsed Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards will begin airing a radio ad Thursday praising him.

The ad by Friends of the Earth Action intersperses audio of Edwards describing his goal of reducing carbon emissions by at least 80 percent by 2050 with the voice of an announcer who hails his "courage to lead on global warming."

"John Edwards: Alone among the candidates in asking something of us," the announcer says, followed by audio of Edwards saying he would ask people to conserve energy in their homes and drive more fuel-efficient vehicles.

The Washington, D.C.-based Friends of the Earth Action is the political arm of Friends of the Earth.

The 60-second spot will air for one week on stations in Concord, Manchester and the seacoast region.

"John Edwards has set the pace among presidential candidates on global warming, and among the leading Democratic candidates, he has the best, most comprehensive global warming program," said Brent Blackwelder, president of both organizations.

I've had my eye on Edwards for a while. I don't think he has as much money.

You know, I really don't think he'd be that bad of a choice.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Jackson Browne says that Democrat John Edwards is the most progressive candidate with a chance at winning the White House, and that he would do the most for working-class Americans.

"It's a challenge to hook yourself up to what a politician says he's going to do, and see if he's going to do it," the singer-songwriter said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "I think it's a really critical time in our country and our world, and I think that working people need a champion, and I think that John Edwards is that person."

He said Edwards is "certainly the most progressive of the candidates that have a chance" at winning the presidency. He said that Edwards had the best solutions for the war Iraq, health care and nuclear power, and that he would faithfully represent working Americans.

"He comes from working-class origins; he's a person who is a self-made man and worked hard to get where he is," Browne said.

Well it sure as Hell better than being endorsed by Pat Robertson :!:

I like either Edwards or Biden.
The only thing I don't like about Edwards is that Nuclear Power is going to be a fact of life to make the switch over to Electric cars we can plug into our roofs.
Lets let Russia and China police the World. Then we can spend all that trash/cash on Peace instead of GUNS and BOMBS.

Edwards is looking better & better to me. This article is a few months old but it does point out that the guy has the cajones to throw a jab at corporatism.
