Happy Birthday Cheryl!!! I know this has been a very difficult year for you......this will be your first birthday without Mike. From my perspective, you have shown great strength and courage as you move on with your life, and I am much encouraged by your positive attitude. May you find peace and happiness in your family and friends, and especially within yourself and all your endeavors. As Woody said, "Take it easy, but take it." Here's wishing you a glorious day, and a wonderous year. Peace and Love, Kevin :D

Cheryl, I posted to your Facebook, and I'm posting again here... the "first" of everything after a major loss like Mike is always difficult. I hope that you've been able to find some peace today and every day... it does get easier... slowly but surely, inch by inch.

Thanks for the bd wishes ya'll. I had a nice time at the show. I didn't get to meet BJ Thomas cuz he didn't get to come out after the show. Too busy I guess. Guess I scared him off huh? I asked a guy who worked for him about getting an autograph of him & meeting him. He said he wasn't coming out as he was busy but he would sign an autograph for me. So the guy took the cd in the bus for me & got him to sign it for me. During the show BJ looked at me & smiled at me. I nearly melted! HE did all his hits and some gospel ones too...

Thanks for the wishes on Facebook...

Happy birthday, Cheryl! I'm only a day late which is really good for me.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your concert last even if you didn't get to meet him.Ya gotta have a story to go with. Back in the day I had a crush on Michael Martin Murphey so I called the place he was appearing at and said I was on the school paper and wanted to interview him. Since I was homeschooled it would have been the first issue of said paper and the only story in it but whatever. The people at the college where he was at agreed, but unfortunately he seems to be of the Pete Seeger school of rehearsing and went out drinking before the show instead. But at least it did put him in a friendly mellow mood and his meet and greet session lasted till the wee hours and I didn't even have to pretend to be working.

That is so cool you met him. Mike had some records of him & I think I saved the one with Wildfire on it.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. We survived it and had a nice time anyway lol. We are back already. Only because my mom won't stop anywhere but to eat get gas and go to the bathroom (Water closet for your Europeans lol). And she was driving a pretty good little clip there. I was so used to stopping with Mike and shopping and hitting neat stores and places. I know Mike would not have wanted to travel like that with anyone. That's how it was last yr when we went with his brother & his wife to Mikes sisters funeral in Ohio. And it was 7-9 hrs before I could eat dinner. They were afraid of missing the funeral home visiting. I didn't wanna miss it but I was hungry and being diabetic need to eat lol. I would've loved to have gone to the mall in Elizabeth City, NC but my mom did not want to stop. This is part of the reason why I hate Mike being passed on. Not only was he my companion and love. But he was someone I did things with and had fun. Now when going places I either am stuck going with someone who does not want to do what I want to like my mom or going alone. It was kinda strange going to the BJ Thomas show alone with no one. Never did that before. But I found parking despite it being hard to find, all on my own. Now I am dead and ready for a nap lol. Thanks to Everyone for the bd wishes...

Happy birthday (plus 1), Cheryl. It's great that you're going to concerts and getting out. Mike would want that for you. Maybe you'll meet someone through the concerts and local folk music places that you can pal up with to go places. I hope this next year of your life brings more joy than you may expect it to.

Happy belated birthday, Cheryl! It sounds like you had a good time!

I'm glad you went to the concert and enjoyed it! I've been going to concerts and folk festivals and stuff by myself for quite awhile, for the same reasons you stated...I get to do what I want to do! You get used to it after awhile!

Thanks for the bd wishes. It's weird going to stuff alone but I guess I'll eventually get used to it. I asked the guy who worked for BJ Thomas if he knew Arlo and he did. The guys said BJ & Arlo were both doing shows at Disney last yr. Arlo went to see BJ Thomas show, liked it & was able to go backstage and meet him after the show. And that's how they got to know each other. Pretty cool. Evidently BJ likes Arlo. So stuff ends up kinda pertaining to Arlo that you wouldn't think it did...
