Great! On Tuesday we made our non-refundable plane and motel reservations for the Fall Revival, for the weekend the schedule said, and today the schedule changed to the following week. Other loyal Blunderites have had their non-changeable vacation scheduled with their employers since December. Guess we'll all have to find something else to do in the Housatonic area that weekend; there is no way for us to change it now.

This will be the first time in years that many of us have missed the Fall Revival, and it won't be because we didn't spend a lot of time and money to be there.

Sorry if I sound upset; I am. If it's going to be like that, this may be the last year we try to go, so I guess the upside is that leaves a seat for someone else.

Check with the airlines...sometimes you can change the reservation with a $50 fee...I've had to do that a time or two on non-refundable tickets.

I'm not disagreeing with you Sue, but in this economy $50 could be a deal breaker. I think we are all just stretching out our "fun travel" bucks about as far as we can...and in some cases further than we should - because its a fundraiser.

I almost fell over when I got an email saying how "inconvenient" it was that the gigs were rescheduled. I have since heard from 3 other "regulars" that may not be able to attend now. Although I know the church will sell out regardless, Im thinking it's not the same.

Just as a courtesy, I think it would have been nice, & I would have liked (although I know we are not owed) some explanation. We're grown up hippies. If there is a reasonable reason I wish it was shared. But "updated" does seem a little cold.

John may not be able to change his vacation. There will be a lot of ass kissing and repricussions but it's more than likely not to work. We are already missing this years HD walk - because the exact same thing happened. We scheduled our vacation based on what we were told, and then the date changed. We were not able to change that one and will sadly miss the HD walk for the first time.

You're right, Reg--since I lost my job last year, we sacrificed a lot to manage the airline tickets and motel costs, and they can't be changed. So now I just don't know what we're going to do.

Shelly that's just a damn shame. And HELL NO, I don't blame you for being upset. Don't think I haven't noticed over the yrs. just how you and Jay have been such great supporters of the GC. Theres so many times I wish Sue and I could do more.

Sue wanted to go to the HD walk, but if your not going, and John and Reg might not make it, I'm starting to lose interest. I'd be lying if I said I didn't go to these things, cause so and so will be there. I love all my blunderite friends, but reality calls, and I do have my favorites. You and Jay, Reg and John are perfect examples. Sue and I try and spread ourselves thin, and make shows we know ya'll will be there. We could always count on you and Jay. And JohnC is always been there. I can't imagine going to a show, at the GC and not seeing Railroader...

So I'm a lil confused/ on all the ramifications. But if you and Jay will be in the Berks, during that wk end. We def, need to hook up, as there will be more concerts. But we live pay ck to pay ck, like allot of Americans do, and it's convient, to see someone, that's allready there.....

With all the support of the GC, is there anything that can be done, to squeeze you in? If not, I pray you don't change your mind about least being in the Berks that wk end.... As we had a wonderfull talk, last fall, Sue and I really looked forward, to spending the WHOLE wk end, in the area, and attending a tailgait, till the cows come home. Sue works very hard at her job, and she loves to have a cold beer ( beers ) and loves getting to know you all better. I'm designated driver, so I pray we can at least spend some time together..... along with I owe Debbie LaFitz, a long over due visit. So we won't be far....

When we can afford to go to Colorado to visit Wyldflower, we are gonna try and make the trip to Dallas, and then head north. Sue's oldest brother lives in Dallas, and we'd like to visit Butch, while there...

I know I ramble, but if it's any consolation, I'm upset too!!! I feel like Sue and I were just getting to know you and Jay. Jay is such a sweet guy..... I very much enjoyed your company last fall.... And Jay, is such a mellow guy. Very intelligent. It's nice to have a meaningfull conversation, with somone like Jay. Refreshing...

Well, one day at a time.... Good luck. Maybe things will work out... Sue and I only do the one show, on a fundraiser wk end. This yr, we wanted to go to the Norman Rockwell museum, and look for the paintings, Rockwell did of Officer Obie.... Meanwhile, I'll be cking itenerary of other shows.... Maybe we coud get lucky, and see James Taylor, or Leon?

Food for thought
Rob

Your right it is a bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man I feel for you guys. Hopefully folks will be able to get things worked out so they can go.

I had to reschedule my life around the Hampton show in May. The weekend of the rescheduled Arlo show was the weekend the ladies at church were gonna go to a retreat in SC. Well Mikes cousin & a friend of mine had been cajoling me to go. But I wouldn't cuz I was afraid to leave Mike with his diabetes. Then the show got changed to the weekend of the ladies retreat. Mike had been saying after the show was was rescheduled that he was gonna go no matter what & wasn't gonna be out of ticket money. I'm not missing that Arlo show he said. I said I wasn't either. I bet his spirit will now be at the American Theatre that nite. Even tho with Mike being gone now I would be free to go to the retreat, I can't cuz of the Arlo show. My friend Debbie could've gone with me but the problem is she is going to the ladies retreat & can't miss that esp since she's already paid to go.

Mike & I were supposed to go to Nags Head, NC the Thurs after the rescheduled Hampton Date in May & spend a week with my folks there at the condo they have there & rent out to folks when they're not using it to pay back for the expenses of it. But now Mikes in heaven.

My folks are changing going down to Nags Head a week later cuz of me going to see Arlo. My mom has decided to go with me to the show rather than we go alone. Since she can't leave my dad alone she is taking him with us & he will stay in the motel while we are at the show. He couldn't handle sitting thru a show like that at his age (yr younger than Pete) now. Shows sold out anyway, & I only have 2 tix. We'll see how crazy my mom drives me lol. I'm now going with my folks and sad thing is they may not have much room in their car for my luggage. So my plans have changed due to the shows date being changed and who I'm going with has now changed since Mike went on. Sounds like the schedule is really goofing up folks plans. Good luck kids...

I just turned to tell Mike about this which I would've if he were here & just realized he's not here for me to tell him. I've been doing that a bit. Miss you baby...

Cheryl, you really put me back on track for perspective. My heart aches for you and I really have nothing to complain about. I wish with all my being that Mike could go to that show with you.

And Louise--what if it had been you who had reservations from halfway around the world--that would have been awful!

I have no right complaining with Cheryl's heartbreak.

But since Ceashel brought it up I'm just going to snivel a little if it's all right.
I know Arlo's quote for the day says "Everything about you that is not happy is not you" So this isn't really me OK?

I bought my Arlo tickets a year ago and was suppose to see him last night here in Sacramento. But as usual, in case you haven't noticed, grown ups hardly ever get to do what we want to do.

My younger daughter had breast surgery on Tuesday but the surgery didn't go as well as we had hoped and I couldn't leave her. She had two tumors biopsied that I'm sure will come back OK. She had at least 1 phylodes tumor (they account for only about 1% of all breast tumors) in one breast and what we think is a fibroadnoma in the other breast. She also has fibromialgia and we didn't realize that her body pain would be ten times worse than her surgery pain. And the body pain doesn't respond to narcotic pain relievers.

On the same day, My oldest daughter ask if she could come stay at our house for "a few days" with the baby. Things at home were bad and she needed to leave the house. She left while her husband was sleeping with what she could fit on one stroller trip to the car. She just sits up all night with the TV on, the lights out and her baby at the breast. I check on her a couple of times a night and she nods off now and again still sitting up but hasn't slept since Tuesday. Poor Dane and Gretta can't figure out why the rest of the pack isn't going to sleep like they are suppose to so they wander around the house at 2 am concerned. I can hear their toenails clicking on the floor. I also can't afford to run my TV all night for much longer. We need to figure out a more stable solution for my daughter and the baby besides the living room couch until something changes. I fixed up a room for her but she won't sleep in it.

My two daughters don't get along very well as it is. I have the OCD one and the lazy but pleasantly fun one. The OCD one can't stop telling her sister all the things she needs to be doing better and how to do it. I didn't feel like I could leave them alone together with one sick and the other heart broken, anxious and chock full of self improvement advise to share. It would be an exercise in torture. If you try to reign in the OCD kid it just escalates. I even took the rest of the week off from work. Come Monday, the sick kid can escape to her friend's house hopefully. Cause Momma can't miss any more work.

The good part is that grandma and grandpa have been getting to spend a lot of time with our 3 month old grandson. He is having great fun.

But my most important point here is that I couldn't go see Arlo.
I gave my Arlo tickets to someone I knew would love him, then went to lay on the bed with a pillow over my head feeling very sorry for myself. I had looked forward to it all year. My husband could have gone with his friend but being the gentleman he is, he sacrificed and stayed home with me. He really wanted to go too.

We love you Arlo! Maybe next year. :)

If anyone has some blunder vibes to spare, my girls could sure use some.
Does this job ever get easier?

I haven't stopped praying for you Cheryl. I think about it every day.

Peace and Love,
Primula

Shelley, please stop! Stop feeling guilty for “feeling”. What happened to Mike is awful, but many have suffered losses this year. I think we all needed October even more because it would have been a potential time for some healing. The two situations are not comparable, but what happened with the flights/vacations/schedule is rightfully upsetting…especially this year.

I didn't mean to make ya'll feel bad about venting. You have every right to vent & be bummed out about how the schedule worked out. And ya'll definitely needed the shows. And there are probably others out there going thru worse that what I've been thru. I do have a vent too. If the Hampton show hadn't been changed Mike could've seen him one more time before going. Oh well, Arlo couldn't help it he got sick. Good luck with Primulas situation with the daughters. Hope things work out better...

Cheryl - What happened to you and Mike totally sux. It's awful. You didnt make anyone feel bad - circumstances did. Don't worry about it.

Thanks, Cheryl and Reg--I wasn't feeling guilty, just more in touch with what's truly important. I'm so sorry for Primula, too--a lot of our group have been getting plenty of dark and it's about time for some light to be stuck in it, IMHO.

That said, here's the reason I started this thread: A number of us (we've been getting e-mails from others) have already put down 50% on our motel and b&b rooms, have made hard (or impossible)-to-change vacation arrangements at work, and have paid for flights. If we do manage to change all this, because of Columbus Day we probably won't be able to change them back if the schedule should change back. So we're poised, ready to try to make new arrangements, but afraid to do so, based only on the arlo.net schedule being changed, the Guthrie Center schedule NOT being changed, and with no understanding of why the change is happening so late in the game.

Does anyone know--is this 'carved in stone'? Can we at least semi-confidently tackle making the changes?

I understand the frustration but hope you can change your reservations. If not, then I'm sure we can still make it a blunderful weekend! I know I've been looking forward to seeing everyone.

Shell, I don't know why the change happened but I'd be willing to bet that it will not be changed back...The church's website just hasn't been updated to reflect the change.
