We saw on the weather report tonight that the tornado-laden storm we had yesterday has become a huge problem for all of the east cost, and we're sending safety and stay-dry Blundervibes. May it leave you as untouched as it did us.

My sister was in LA this weekend with my daughter, attending a wedding. Ellen was supposed to fly back to Philly this morning. She was delayed for 4-1/2 hours because of flooding at PHL. Her plane just finally landed in Philly at 12:30 AM eastern time!

Corey got home to ABQ on schedule. I'm just glad this is all over. Everything that could go wrong with the wedding did. At least my sister and Corey are safely home.

I still have a lot of family back east and I hope they and everyone else are doing well.

We had a tornado watch here in VA & thankfully none so far here. Hope everyone is safe. Vibes...

Hi - Im so glad to hear that you missed the bulk of it. My son arrived home and safe yesterday although we had 7.5 inches of rain so far. Driving to Newark airport was tough - waiting for him to land - was way tougher. Coming home, we hit a spot in Newark that because of flooding, the police were only letting cars go through one at a time. With a little help, I drove through it - slow but steady - until my little red car did its SS Minow impersonation. I waited until we "sailed" to a place where my tires hit the ground again and drove out of the 40' long "Puddle". I looked at Paul and said - "Pretty good driving for a Pansyass - huh?" and he said I did great. THe rest of the trip home was not as scary although I had to keep drying out my non existant brakes....

Paul had a wonderful time and had lots to tell us - but he was SO tired when he left my house last night i felt so sorry for him!...But listen to this -I just saw on the news - his school was cancelled today because of the flooding in Lodi and Paterson...So he gets an extra day of vacation - which I'm sure he will use wisely (and sleep ALOT)

Thanks as always for worrying about us...but even our new roof seemed to weather the storm (Must be those great GAF shingles - ho ho ho) Now, Im off to work to deal with all the peoples roofs that didnt fair so well...

Doing fine here in Mystic. The pond out back is nice and big, past the trees that surround it, but it's never yet made it as far as the house. Don't know what things are like by the river.....I'll find out soon when I go to work. My mother just called from NJ, and said my brother who lives on a lake in Wayne has water in the basement in places it's never been, and the lake is halfway up his back yard. Believe me, that's a lot bigger than it usually is!

Glad you all made it okay. On our news they talked like it was problems in some area around here but thankfully we just got the bad rain. Hopeing things are better out ya'lls way...

WELL, Judy - let me tell you about WAYNE, NJ - You cannot get there from here - I tried. I left this morning at 7:15 a.m. at 11:30 this morning I returned home after a 4+ hour tour of NJ - None of it being Wayne (where I work). Hamburg Turnpike, Rt 23, Skyline Drive and Rt 46 are closed due to flooding. (The main North/south arteries in west(ern) NJ) There is a bus stuck at the bottom of a huge hill (Riverdale) with the front across the downward part and the back across the upward part. Thats a disaster waiting to happen. Three hours into my trek, my wonderful boss called me and told me to go home. It snowed for an hour on the way up. Anyway - I am again home safe and somewhat "sound".

HEY Guess what? A picture of the spot where the Chevy Minnow sailed yesterday was most of the front page of today's Newark Star Ledger. Evidently, one too many cars went thru and got stuck. The water is up to the back window in the picture...Must not have had as good a crew!

Reg, my brother went over to my parents around 10 last night to pick up a pump for his basement, and he had to go all over in a roundabout way to get there because of all the flooding. I guess it was even worse by this morning! That area always gets hit so hard, by the Willowbrook Mall and the Passaic River. Ugh!

I heard Paramus was closed - the malls, Rt 17 & 4. THEY Closed the Paramus malls....that's just one step before he11 freezes over.

Saw on the news where NJ got it bad. Hope all you folks up there are still okay. Wishing all in the affected areas well...

Made it through Monday. Tristan said his friend woke up and the first thing he saw when he looked out the window was somebody kayaking down his street. The floating portapotty count stands at three.
Took me over 45 minutes to take the kids less than half a mile to school. Apparantly,and gratefully, our street is an island of high ground. But that's why when we left I didn't know that New Jersey was closed. Michael took the train because you literally couldn't get out of Collingswood.
Now today there was a round two of tidal flooding. The highways were closed but you could make it sssllloowly around if you knew back roads a little further from the rivers.
When we were looking to buy a house in South Jersey we wondered why all the houses had holes in their basement floors. I had never before seen a sump. Now I thank God for sumps and their pumps.
