I'll add my 32 cents... happy and healthy new year to all of us! My party has already begun... my best friend from when we were 13 is here visiting. It's only the 4th time since we were 16 that we're seeing each other! And my daughter leaves PA on Thursday to move in with me. It's going to be a GREAT year!

If you find a bottle of Ripple, I'm there! That stuff was great if you waited a year or two before opening it.

Happy New Year to all!

I'll probably be doing a quiet, by myself new year. Maybe I'll call a friend or two or three. I hear there's a group of hikers/climbers who put on a fireworks show at the top of Pikes Peak. I'll probably go outside and watch that at midnite, if the weather doesn't prevent it.

Warm hugs to everyone!

It's close to 2PM on NYE here, so close to midnight Sat night there. So in 24 hours if I'm here tomorrow (Mon) arvo, it'll be NYE EST there, so I might peek in and see who's in Blat.

We're off to a friends place this evening, to see the NY in. Big party with lamb on a spit, baked veggies (thats what I'll be having, no BAA BAA for me) salads etc. It's summer here of course so this is all outside. Oh and lots of music!

My beloved will be making his usual Oliebollen (yes, that's Dutch for oily balls, it's not as bad as it sounds!) They are a dough that you put in oil and they puff up, like do-nuts kinda. You can put apple or raisins in 'em and sprinkle with powdered sugar. They are good as long as the oil is nice and hot and they are well drained on paper towels.

So hope you all have a Happy New Years Eve where ever you are, and may next year bring all you wish for.

Louise, the Italians have something like oliebollen; it's called zeppole, and it usually accompanies just about every festive occasion.

Please, no remarks about Italians and "oily balls!"

Happy New Years and all the joy and happiness you can wish for. I'll party on my own for the first time since my son is on his first New Years party. He's getting that age and I'm getting that age to have to make my own plans. In Germany there is something like oliebollen too. They are called Berliner, and in my area the word is "Krebbel". They are usally unfilled or filled with marmelade and sprinkled with sugar or powdered sugar, unless someone tries to get you then they fill 'em with real hot mustard.
Love and Peace
Brigitte
