For any fans out there if you haven't already heard we lost Steve Irwin about 4 hours ago (around noon Monday)
He was filming a doco up north from me off Port Douglas, Queensland. He was diving and caught the barb of a stingray thru his heart.
I wasn't a huge fan but his Zoo is only 15 mins drive from me and he is a local and I feel very sorry for Terrie, and his two small children.
He has done an awful lot for the environment and put his money where his mouth was.
I have to say lots of people are in shock here. Myself I did not know him and to me when celeberities die it's no worse than Joe or Jane Bloggs dying in a tragic way so I don't feel any great loss personally. (an exception would be adg as he does personally connect with all of us here)
But I thought since Steve and Terrie had been a part of our fictitional story, Fahrenheit 32 cents, he deserved a mention here.

It's very sad that he died so young. He knew what kind of risks he was taking, and chose to do all the 'crazy' things he did, at least partly out of his love of animals of all kinds, and a desire to help others know these animals better. He died doing something he loved. That is a very mixed blessing. Rest Well, friend!

Ditto on what Wyld said. Not everyone gets to die doing something, they love.

Cepting maybe drug addicts, and that's a differant cup of tea.

* Yeah I can really feel for his family. I love Steve's documentarys, and it was obvious that he and his wife were soul mates. That's gotta really sting..

I'm a great fan of the Croc guy. He'll be missed by many... That's a fact.

What Wyld and RB said... I always liked Steve... and Steve & Terri as a couple... they seemed to be great together... I feel so sad for her and the kids.
