Maybe you could throw a few my way as well. Nothing life-threatening, but just a bunch of stuff to handle all at once and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Basically been feeling like crap since February when I had bronchitis, and severe asthma brought on by the bronchitis. Since then, I've had breathing probs.

Went to the doc, finally. Been diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes. Have to see a pulmonologist about the breathing problems and make another date at the slsep clinic. Nothing is way over the top--just enough over the line.

Did have to start on meds for the blood pressure and diabetes. Good news is I don't have to get up to pee twenty times a night. Bad news is I have to get up once to throw up. Don't know which medication is making me ill--or if it's the combination.

Lordy, look at me go on ... sorry. I'll stop now. Thanks for whatever you can spare (of course I expect the major stuff to go to those with major probs).

Oh, Pam... your stuff is really BIG stuff to have to deal with. I wish I'd known sooner, I coulda sent {{{hugs}}} even sooner.

A week or so ago we whent to the sea foe the day, near to where we went there is a big boating lake. On the lake there were some Canadian Geese and I thought of you.

Oh wow, so sorry to hear about your medical problems. I can so relate being diabetic & being married to a fellow diabetic. Getting up to pee alot is one of the symptoms of diabetes. I never had that symptom tho. It's alot to adjust to & I still have trouble getting used to it. If you're taking the diabetes med Glucophage (Metformin) that one will make you throw up & have diarrehea. I lived thru all that lol. I made them put me on somthing else cuz I wasn't gonna live with instant diarrehea anymore lol. It's not easy but hang in there...

Cheryl--you got it! That's what's making me feel so very miserable. Doc says "give it a few more days to see if you can get used to it." I'm assuming he means the medication, not the throwing up and diarhhea at 3:30 in the morning!

Felt much better after lunch--second wind and all. Now I'm going home and having some tea. Have completely lost my voice as well. Sigh.

Seems to me that a medication to control blood sugar but makes you throw up and have diarhea can't be much help, can it? Wouldn't that "control" the sugar level down enough to throw you into a low sugar reaction?

My mother was on insulin with no reaction, generally. No vomiting, diarhea, nothing... but since her pancreas did work (when it wanted to), there would be those times that she'd produce her own insulin for no apparent reason and then she'd have low sugar and need to eat sugar and a protein to support the sudden influx of sugar. Those times were rare and for the most part the insulin worked just fine.

Just a thought. To me, I'd rather take needles than throw up...

I guess it varies, but I think that insulin is either indicated or it isn't. There's one type of diabetes where you're not making insulin - Bob has that - so you have to take it. Another kind is where you make it but your body doesn't process it right, so you have to take medication for that. I don't think that it's really a matter of choice most of the time.

Still, pam, I'm sure there's more than one thing you can take, but the doctor probably wants you to give your body time to adjust to the best thing.

Mike takes glucophage as well as insulin & Actos for his diabetes. Funny thing the Glucophage never gabe him the diarreha etc LOL! I told him I hate you lol. If it bothers you too much you can ask thte drs to put you on something else. They put me on Rezulin instead when I asked to be put on something else. That got taken off the market so they put me on Actos instead. Then my dr had me start taking Glipizide (Glucotrol) & that has done the trick in keeping my sugars down. When I went to a few Arlo shows while in Glucophage I didn't take it that day fearing getting diarrhea at the show lol. Can you imagine going to the bathroom during Alices without leaving your seat lol.

The kind of diabetes where you don't make insulin id type 1. The kind where you still make a little insulin but your boady doesn't use it right is type 2 diabetes.

I belong to a coupla e-mail groups for fat peoole with diabetes & they are great cuz you can talk about your diabetes in a fat accepting environment. If theres anyone out there interested in those I can post the info on here.
