As my daughter told me... today is National Pot Smoking Day. When I gave her one of my "I don't get it" looks, she said, "you know, 4/20."

Hope all had a happy 4/20 day <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>
Too bad a day of recognition for something like this is needed. In Canada polls show majority of people are in favour of a decrim bill or legalization, seems most of my american friends seem to feel the same.
Its sad that in our world today and all the things going on around us peoples lives are ruined, people are jailed and millions of dollars are spent for smoking a natural plant, something most feel is far less harmful then the synthetic/chemical drugs, pharmaceuticals, cigs and booze....
How many have died from these things and how many do we know have died as a result of smoking pot?!?!?!...
Many sick and disabled have enjoyed a greater quality of life because of this plant, yet must live in fear and be treated as criminals....
Happy 4/20 indeed !! *shaking head*,Sparky

Marijuana Party Launches Local Campaign
April 22, 2005 6:54 AM EDT

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Marijuana Party officials kicked off their campaign in a British Columbia provincial election in a smoke-filled room at an art gallery here.

Campaign manager Kirk Tousaw told about 1,000 people at the rally Wednesday that Marijuana is anything but a fringe group.

"The majority of the people in this province smoke marijuana or have smoked marijuana," Tousaw said. "So either they're criminals or we're mainstream."

The party's main platform for the balloting on May 17 is to wrest control of marijuana from Ottawa.

"The provinces need to take over control, take back control from organized crime and begin to regulate and tax the marijuana industry," Tousaw said.

Some in attendance said they didn't know the event had anything to do with politics. Pot smoking at the museum has been an annual event on April 20 for about a decade.

The Marijuana Party plans to run candidates in 40 of the 79 legislative districts for the elections and asserted that Marijuana is anything but a fringe group.
