A very good friend of mine, a person whom I look up to and try to use as an example in my life, my father in-law, Gary Wilmot known also as "The Dreamer" on this web site and others, has made it known that he has been ubdergoing chemo therepy for a cancer that was discovered last year. The day before yesterday (6/23/04) his wife was informed by the doctors that she needs to stay home and keep the family close as the end is nearing for Gary. Ever "The Dreamer" he is convinced that these new chemo drugs he is on will save him and all will be well. Everything leads to the contrary. It is very hard to see him the way he is right now. I know there are some folk's on here that were extreemly generous last year in getting him to the Trinity show on Oct.12th, there was also a live CD sent to him from that concert and a DVD. At the time of the concert we all saw hope in his future. The Therepies were going as well as could be expected and his hopes were high. He has introduced and opened my eyes to many new things in my life. He entered my life just before my own father past. I have always and will always look at him as my father. I don't quite know why I am here, whether it is to ask, pray for a miricle or to ask and pray for the strength to deal with things as the come about. I am dumbfounded when I think of these things. I would like to share something that Gary wrote awhile back, I think it was after the first time he saw Arlo perform. He posted it here once before, but I am going to post it again for him.

Arlo Guthrie
City Theatre,Biddeford ,Maine
(1990)

Familiar chords,haunting harmony
echoed from a time long past:
a time of poets,
of songs of rebellion,
the singer with his accoustic guitar
dresssed in the rare
bellbottoms and boots

Encouraging chants of an anthem,
all gathered for a worthy cause,
together in peace,
one in thought,
in harmony,
in heart,
and in spirit

Long flowing locks of corkscrew hair
glistening in the spotlight,
ages highlighted in silver;
a sign of years passing-turning-eras passed,

Still,the singer (poet in song)
sings the melody-shares an intimate story,
Master teller of tales,
of parody,of truth,of brother and sisterhood
of a time long ago...of today...
The night belonged to us:
a few short hours of warmth
of sharing
fostered by the last true minstrel man

Gary Allan Wilmot
6/1990

I would like to ask for prayers and energy to help relieve the extreme pain he is in.
I will try to keep anyone interested, posted on his health as often as I can get in here.

Dan

I have just discovered that Arlo will be playing the church on the 2nd of july. I am going to try to get him there. I am calling in all loans and making a few. The wife may be angry in the morning, but I promissied him I would go with him in Oct. to the trinity show, why not next week. Searching for cheap lodging in the Housatonic are if anyone has any suggestions. At This point I am open to all, and I am positive he has enough morphine to keep him comfy there and back.

Now I have something positive I can do.
Love and Blundervibes
Dan

Dan, my best wishes to all of you. I was there last October and Gary and I had plans to meet up. But from what I recall, he wasn't able to get there for the tailgate and we had to leave to head back to PA that afternoon. I hope that you can get hom to MA next weekend.

Lodging is expensive (around $200 per night) and rooms are few. If I were in this position, I'd do a web search of all motels that have a vacancy and call the owner on the phone and do a lot of begging for a lower rate. I'd tell them why it's so important.

My heartfelt wishes are headed your way.

Hi all and good morning,

I spoke with Gary this morning and he wishes not to go to the show in the condition he is in. He does not feel safe to make the trip. So next weekend is out. I have a favor I would like to ask, if anyone would could y'all drop him a line, a note a card, just anything saying that we are with him. His only connection to "Blunderville" right now are his albums and the DVD from oct. 12th. He watches it every week at least once. If everyone could just send him a little note that would be "Blunderfull". My wife and I are also going to be setting up a fund to help my mother in-law defer some of the 10's of thousands of dollars medical bills that have piled and the inevitable costs to come, I will have more info. on that later this week if anyone is interested.

Letters, cards, poems, inspiration and "BlunderLove" can be sent to:

Gary "Dreamer" Wilmot
P.O.Box 144
Porter, ME 04068

Thank you all for your kindness and thoughts.

love and Blunder Blessings
Dan
