Emmy and I are here on the place marked X ...Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. We are staying. Locals don't really have too many choices....we do the best we can to protect orselves, then wait for the wind.
This is a MAGNIFICENT storm.
There's something different about this one, I think maybe it's the rest of the world situation .... lot's to ponder, but right now I better finish securing the back yard.
Keep us all in your prayers, please...and the rest of the people who will be visited by this Isabel after she leaves our houses.
And for all yu surfers out there, surf is DEFINATELY UP!!

Kitty, I know you have been through storms before, so any advice on how to prepare would be redundant.

Just know that lots of safe-haven-in-the-storm blundervibes are heading to you and everyone else in the path.

Let us know how you are doing, when you can!

Thank you, my friends. Haven't made it out to the yard yet, on my way in a moment. Meanwhile, the police are outside with bullhorns, telling us all to go away.
They also are the ones who told us to go to the bank and get emergency money....we locals tried that years ago and know it's a myth. Banks will not give you money. It's a "club" thing, and you have to be a member...
The police people also told everyone to go to motels inland....ha. We're on to that too. Motels are in cahoots with the bank people.

We'll be fine, or not.
People live all the time, people die all the time....frankly, I suspect I've done something bad and in retribution, I'll have to live to Biblical life standards...oh, say 300 years or something. ....

But no matter what the outcome, I have to say that I have never seen or felt such a magnificent storm. I have lived on this beach for over 3 decades. And this one is different.
The ocean is WILD.....the waves crashing sound exactly like big thunder. Media people and surfers.... and police with bullhorn ...and me.

Be careful and be safe Kitty! But, if the winds decide to pick you up and deposit you someplace else, I'm wishing for either Oz or Housatonic Ma. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Kitty, hoping you ride this storm out in good stead ... and not on the roof of your house. Lock down and hold on tight ... we'll be waiting to hear back from you soon.

Good luck with the storm & hope you all make it okay. Since we are more inland, we won't have it as bad as ya'll. I saw on the news where a surfer from your area surfed for 3 hrs & surf got so bad he had to quit & go home. Isabel so away...

Good luck Kitty. Been thinking about you the last few days, ever since they said Isabel was headed straight for Morehead City, which I see it still is. You're a lot braver than I. I would have been out of there a few days ago. Again, good luck.

Kitty, lots of good wishes heading your way. My son wanted to go to college down there and all I could think of is, "why? they have hurricanes down there!"

According to the projections, Isabel may cause us in PA some problems. My kids have never seen a hurricane before, so in a way...

I've got my hanglider packed and heading that way! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/round.gif" width=15 height=15>

You mean our intellegent and talented president who likes to play God when dealing with weapons of mass destruction doesn't know how to shock and awe this weather of mass destruction into submission? Why doesn't he just go 30 miles out from the east coast on the USS Lincoln and speech Isabel to death?
Fight mighty wind with mighty wind!

Stay safe Kitty & Co.! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Here's a couple of paragraphs from msnbc:

As with Hurricane Hugo, which followed roughly the same track almost exactly 14 years ago, much of the damage wrought by Isabel was expected to be far inland, in areas usually unaffected by Atlantic storms. The National Weather Service said hurricane force winds were extending up to 115 miles from the center of the storm, while tropical storm force winds reached a full 315 miles away.
By Wednesday morning, rough seas were already kicking up along the coast, and stormy weather was expected by Wednesday evening.

WOW!!!!!!!!

Stay safe, Miss Kitty! I can just imagine you singing your own personal version of Wasn't That A Mighty Storm! I can picture you singing it to Isabel herself! But please, stay safe down there, OK?!
