When I was trying out IRC chat while dave was getting the first and original blunderchat started there, I happened on a room called Group W Bench. Seemed promising. Very nice people, but considering they said that the room was named in honor of Arlo and that there were bots that included bits of Alice, they weren't all that interested in current blundermatters. There used to be a Group W site where they had some poetry. Not Arlo related, but a nice site.

I wouldn't venture into IRC (the undernet)these daze. I like the image part of the current internet. But it sure served it's purpose in the old days.

I don't even remember the commands for IRC now and don't have an IRC program on this computer. It did serve its purpose, but was quite maddening at the same time. The spits were really crazy. All of a sudden half the room would be gone. Or kind of gone. And the lags..well, I guess they were perfect for blundering, what with time going by at one rate for some people and an entirely different rate of speed for others. Blunderers were really trying to converse, to the extent the technology would allow, but when I ventured into other rooms, everyone seemed to be obsessed with sending each other .wav files. I didn't really see the point considering the limited usefulness of the files and their size relative to the size of hard drives in those days.

pat, I understand that all kinds of stuff, bad stuff sometimes, is being send there.

Yes, I've heard that too. I imagine you've really got to be really up on security if you spend any time in IRC chat now. Which I am certainly not.
