Pam called me last night; the first time the pain let up enough for her to do that. After collapsing in pain and going to the emergency room Saturday night, she had surgery on Sunday for what turned out to be a very bad hernia. (The other possibilities were MUCH WORSE, so she’s feeling grateful for that.) She doesn’t have Internet access at home yet, so can’t get on the boards until she returns to work, which will probably be sometime next week. This is a call (at her request) for Blundervibes; she’s needing them for healing. Obviously, her irrepressible sense of humor has survived and is doing well; the way this post opened is about how she told it to me, even though laughing hurts.

I've had abdominal surgery, and let me tell you... it hurts to laugh... but it helps if you hold a pillow or a stuffed toy on the area - kinda holding things in! (My daughter gave me a teddy bear that my grandkids ended up calling my "belly bear" - I looked really funny the first time I went out of the house, carrying my bear!)

Blundervibes to Pamaramadingdong. Don't laugh! Get well...and stay away from those aliens...and child surgeons.

I think it's terrible how those 12 year old surgeons steal peoples bellybuttons while doing hernia surgery! I know of one of them 12 year old surgeons that has pickle jars full of bellybuttons decorating his office!

Did you have an innie or an outie? Innies make for great lint traps while outies can come in handy for hanging a spare set of car keys on. I hope you get an honorable discharge from the navel academy. Are you sure it was a hernia and not a himnia? Nathen may say "forget the vibes", but you know he won't forget his vibe-rator.
