After thinking it over I decided I had to delete this topic. Given all the facts and circumstances the person involved was probably pretty easily identifiable in her community or at least to the principals involved. Since she didn't post here herself, that would be a privacy violation when looked at in relation to Dave's warnings in the "Read This Before Posting" section. I know the intentions behind all the discussion were only best, but I think that it's best to keep this stuff very, very general, especially when discussing a third party. The issue of abuse and intervention is an interesting and important topic and could be discussed in the topical forum in a more general way.

It's a good opportunity to remind everyone that although it feels like a small family here and only a relatively few people post, everything can be read by anyone in the world, so circumspection is not a bad idea, even when posting about our own situations..except for Todd, of course.

Pat, I understand your reasoning for deleting this thread, and don't object whatsoever.

The only things I would like to say in addition to what has already been said, is that my motivation to intervene in that situation is purely friendship - nothing "freudian" - and that the reason I posted probably more information than necessary was that I was looking for support from this family, and I did receive that.

Thanks for understanding Wyldflower. I really don't like doing the moderator thing. Except for moving threads. I kind of like doing that. I guess it's easier than rearranging the furniture.

We do most often work from the of "less is more" or "doin' absolutly nuthin'" schools of thought, but in this case more was better and it was time to do something. Pat was right to delete the thread, and I'm sorry that I put her in the position where she would have to make that decision.

(The vibes I had requested were for a friend of mine who is in an abusive relationship, and for me to have wisdom in helping her... and your thoughts would still be appreciated. The ball is in her court now, so I'm waiting to see what she does with it.)

Yeah..well..I don't know what Todd's status is vis a vis circumcision...he's not into circumspection at all so he might tell us, but when he's feeling up to it he might just circumnavigate the whole circumference.
