I woke this morn a mote, a speck of something free. Maybe a dusty particle from some distant star,,or a bit of west Texas, sifted from a sunset. Drifting in a blod red cloud to settle quietly upon the sea of grass. There to float eternally in a sagebrush dream.

Sometimes,,my Indian heritage,,says things to me ,,I hope someone likes this,,

That Old Blanket

I see a homespun blanket in my mind.Is that old blanket reality or just an
almost thing that hides away in time.
Is that chocka ,chocka sound I hear or feel a part of history or maybe a genetic
memory of the simple loom my mind recalls.
That woman combing wool from a goat outside our simple lodge,pulling ,spinning
thread through fingers brown and worn.
Berry dye and soft sighs as the wind talks to the coyote.
That tall lean man , was so rough and loving in a way I never know.
Old owl that salutes the sun falling west from the mountains gaze.
Days of dusty buffalo grass and nights when clouds slide past a patient moon
waiting.
Is this something that was me , before I was myself?
I hope so,I like the way that world felt.

Thanks for sharing your memories, Horseman. Sometimes, I think I remember places I haven't been, and, times I've not lived in, in Ireland.
A couple weeks ago, I serendipitously saw a young woman & her band, Tchiya Amet. She's Cherokee and Black. Her songs, are derived from Natie American songs & chants, set to gorgeous, sparse, reggae instrumentation. Her message is a fusion of indigenous legends & Rastafarian universality. I was very impresssed.....
