Edited to say that Susan's great--no cancer, but "atypical cells" that have to be removed in a few weeks. She's a happy camper and asked me to say how happy she is about Nancy and to thank you all; knowing you were thinking about her meant a lot.

edited to say i don't think anyone should iron...ever. i think it should be outlawed, frankly. if you can't just wash and wear it, they shouldn't sell it.

I'm with deb on the iron thing. Besides, the ironed stuff clashes with my natural wrinkles.

I've been seriously out of the communication loop due to a heavy work load etc but have been holding everybody in my heart and prayers.

As for ironing...

Our first apartment had an extra room upstairs that we didn't need (we had no kids yet). I had read that rich people had rooms in their houses containing nothing but their stereo & records & a chair. Supposedly it sounds a lot better. We started such a room with this extra room. Didn't notice any difference in the sound, actually....

But it was cool. It was decorated with posters I had taken from the Electric Banana, advertising past gigs, & thus had a good atmosphere for music. We dubbed it the "Punk Room."

Then about a week later, I walked in & there was an ironing board set up. Turned out to be permanent.

Totally killed the mood.

Yeah, at the time that's what the women at work said when I tried to make my case about this way back then. They said that when a woman finds a room where she can put up an ironing board without having to take it down, that was like finding gold. She had the perfect ironing room back then, coz it had my entire record collection.

Prayers and blundervibes, great to hear some good news. I hope everything continues. I just have to add my 2 cents worth to the ironing discussion, too--my kids think the iron is a quiltng tool--that's about the only time I use it! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> But that having a room to leave the ironing board up all the time, it goes right along with having a place to leave the sewing machine up all the time. If only I could convince a couple more kids that independence is good!!!!

Great news about Nancy.

My kids have recently discovered the joys of ironing. They bring it out of the closet and set it up... for me! But I say, "you bought that shirt, you iron it." And so they do. Then the ironing board stays up, in the dining room only to become one more "flat surface" symptom of the disease my sister and I both inherited, "flat surface syndrom" in which every flat surface becomes a permanent storage space.
