Beverley, Is your Toffee like Werthers Toffees? (we get them here in OZ, YUM). Then of course there is the magnificent Oregon Saltwater Taffy that is softer than the hard Taffy we used to make and comes in yummy flavors like coffee, cinnamon, red hot, choc and also is good for pulling fillings. When I finally get me to the Church I'll pick some up on my way as I'll go to Ore. first!

Yes Larry I've been practicing so we can have a Swiss Cheese READ OFF when I get there. Don't even try to challenge me to a Vegemite read off! I've been eating it all my life YOU WILL NEVER WIN THAT ONE!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like everyone had a great time. What happened with the Turkey Fry was it a success?

Well, even though we missed the tailgate, we have 22 bottles of maple mead and we're planning a small firepit partee (weather permitting)next weekend with a few friends. So, if there's any Blunderites still in the area from last weekend......???

<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/peace.gif" width=16 height=16> through mead impaired mental capabilities!

Oh, nooo.... I knew we shouldn't get on that plane to Texas, Zap! Please have a toast at your partee to "Next year in Housatonic!" The mead should be quite mellow by then, and so will we.

OK RegFaith, so when I get there (one day) I'll bring Ore. saltwater Taffy, you bring N.Y. saltwater Taffy and we'll figure out if Pacific or Atlantic saltwater makes the best Taffy. What the heck! We'll just enjoy eating both!!

Er, more than likely, it won't! But don't worry! We'll make more! Still have two gallons of strawberry mead we haven't bottled yet. That's about eight + bottles worth. 22 + 8 = 30!

"30 bottles o' mead on the wall,
30 bottles o' mead!
Take one down and pass it around,
There's 29 bottles o' mead on the wall!"

Need to make 70 bottles more so that the song starts out right!

Let it age? Hmmmm....right! Ha, ha! That's a good one! Damn the hangovers! Full speed ahead!

<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/peace.gif" width=16 height=16> through inebriation!

Firepitism will probably be postponed due to predicted rain (we've had enough, thank you!)anyhow, so enjoy L.I. with no regrets of lost mead, Wyld. Besides, it'd be a long drive if, once you met us for real, you thought we were a-holes or really boring or something.

My maternal grandfather was originally from Sag Harbor, LI, I believe. Ain't never been thar meself, though. Too far to canoe for me. Have fun and a safe trip.
