Hey Larry! Isn't it silly how giddy being a grandparent makes you feel? I've been thinking about you all. I'm so glad to hear the great news!

Weird grandpas are the best kind of grandpa!!!! You will be a natural. You could probably win some kind of grandpa award for it, I bet.

I became a new grandma January 7th 2009! My little buddy is Jeremiah and my daughter is a great mom, but she is a baby hog. I hardly ever get to hold him. All he wants to do is breastfeed anyway, and I can't help him there. This is total pay back, though. My daughter breastfed every 2 hours around the clock for 8 months. I remember telling my mom, "I didn't know you could be this tired and still be alive". And that wasn't just hyperbole either.

The most wonderful thing about being grandparents is that we can tell the crumb crunchers all kinds of nonsense and lies and it's perfectly within the rules.

I loved all the crap my grandpa told me that I thought probably wasn't true on some level, but I wanted to believe it was, so I did! That's one of the best things about having a grandpa.

Here is one of my grandpa's favorites you might like to try out when the time is right. This one is done right when the grown ups are clearing the table and it goes like this: "Well, bring out the chocolate cream pie, grandma." "Now Jake, you know we don't have any chocolate cream pie. Quit teasing the kids." "Aw, come on grandma, don't be such a party pooper. Bring out the pie and stop teasing the kids. You're gonna make them cry." "Yeh, grandma, you're gonna make us cry!!!" He did this every single time we had dinner at his house. There wasn't chocolate cream pie ever! Not even once. You'd think my grandma would have applied the fine art of calling his bluff and whipped out a pie at least once, but she never did. However, that did not keep us from thinking for just a few moments that just maybe there was pie this time.

Let me know if you have some good leg pullers I can use.

My grandpa was native American and my grandma was Scottish, but that didn't keep her from gettin and Indian name too. Did you know that my grandpa's Indian name was Chief Big Toe and my grandma's was Little Squatting Heifer? Really, it's true! My grandpa said so.

You're gonna be a really fun and really great grandpa. I know it in my bones.
