Terrie, I remember waking up after some surgery while the tube was still in, and I remember it being removed. No big deal...I was groggy enough I really didn't notice it was still in, and when it was removed, it didn't hurt. I never felt like I was choking or gagging.

They have good drugs besides morphine, and they can keep you messed up enough that you won't have issues with it, nor will you care at the time. Talk to your doctor.

Apprehension can also be a big part. I agree with Goofus on the trach, if it can be avoided. Take good care, my friend. You are in my thoughts.

Thanks, everyone. I haven't been here in a long time (I'm sorry, please forgive me). I've been living over in FB land lately, tending the farm, and avoiding doing my homework. I'm doing well and the surgery isn't scheduled yet but we're looking at mid-December. I posted the setlist from Colorado Springs a few minutes ago.

Sue, I'm glad you described your experience for me. Makes me feel a whole lot better, calmer, at least.

If anyone wants to see pics of Wyld and me with Arlo, head on over to my FB. See ya somewhere :)
