Sue is being so wonderful taking the time to talk to me every night so we can all know what's going on. Tonight she said that Rob had a very bad night and bad day today. He had a very hard time breathing and began to panic. He's back on the ventilator, & evidently it's his left lung that is not cooperating. They had to remove two ribs on that side too (when he had his heart surgery last Weds). He's again not responding, alert or aware, but that could be from his meds (or not). He has a slight temperature now, but that could be from the venti tube being inserted again (or not). Sue is spending her 1st night at home, to do laundry & repack. Rob Jr. is with her and they are going back in the a.m.

Sue said that they have repeated the word Zoe, or talked about Zoe to him all day yesterday, and she is going to get a radio in his room tomorrow, so he can listen to music. So she's hearing your suggestions and acting on them. Thanks. She also keeps thanking us for the support. Im going to print out this Arlo Net thread (without my reports) tomorrow, and mail it to the hospital, so she can read them all to Rob.

All my best to Rob.

I've missed his updates on birthdays. Tomorrow, September 8, marks:

- the 43d anniversary of the debut of the original "Star Trek"
- Frank Cady's (Sam Drucker) 94th birthday
- Sid Caesar and Lyndon LaRouche's 87th birthdays (really they were born on the same date in 1922, what an unlikely pairing)
- other birthdays: Bernie Sanders, Aimee Mann, Pink, Richard the Lionhearted, among others

Some of my cousins who don't even speak to me (or I to them) saw my post about the accident on Facebook, and sent their sincere prayers for Rob and Sue. I think it's an irresistible Movement!

Rob is about the same. The good part is they reduced his meds so although not as much as the other day, he is back being a little responsive. Sue told him today that "Reg said she expects you to be at the GC in October!" and she said he seemed like he smiled and he did blink. She said she knew he heard what she said. That seemed to make Sue happy.

But the bad news is his temp went up from just over 100 degrees to a bit over 102 today. This could be from the tubes going in and out...or they are thinking it might be pnuemonia, but they have done a bunch of tests today to see if that's what it is.

I got an address for you guys, in case you want it. He's in ICU, so no flowers or teddy bears or stuff like that, but cards and notes are fine (and welcome).

Fletcher Allen Hospital
Robert Brown, (Patient) ICU
111 Colchester Ave
Burlington, VT 05401

Sue told me to tell you all "Keep up the good work -cause its working!"

Although Rob had an awful night last night, the doctors feel that he has turned a corner. The fever, which got a LOT higher last night, was due to an infection. Last night his kidneys shut down, but they put him on temporary dialysis and that did the trick. They are pretty sure that they figured out what the infection is (not the cause) and they're treating it...and he is already fever free.

Sue had a funny story she wanted me to share - the nurses were trying to put electrods on his head, and they were having a hard time with his long hair in the way. His sister was in the room, and made the comment "by the time you get out of here, they're going to give you a buzz cut" Sue said his eyes went WIDE open and he glared at his sister with what she called an "evil eye". She laughed and said - "I don't think we'll be touching his hair!!"

Sue had a long meeting with his doctors today and they said that he might not get all his strength back in his left side, and although he will have a few ups and downs along the way - are you ready - they expect him, with the help of a cane, to eventually "walk" out of the hosp... :D :D :D :D :D

Sue sincerely thanks you and asked for you guys not to forget him on this long road...he needs your continued prayers, vibes, cards etc.
